This guy continues to be one of the best overall players in the league. Already has 11 sacks this year and has that Houston defense the #1 ranked unit in football. His numbers alone dictate he'll be in the Hall of Fame....and we let him walk....for nothing. If there was never any intention of re-signing him (somehow) then trade him and get something for him. He had 16.5 sacks his last season with us and we just let him inexplicably walk out the door as a free agent. Just mind boggling

Because he is a 4-3 DE.   ALL ON FLORES imo.

Me too.   The 3-4 doesn't work unless you have a TRUE NT which the Vikings DON'T

Instead they keep him because the owners think we are contenders every year. We ended up 7-9. It's just stupid decisions like this by ownership that have hindered this team because they run things like fans instead of owners looking at the big picture. That philosophy has not served this franchise well over the years

Jared Allen set the franchise sack record and we were a piss poor team.  Focus on the second bolded number, our record said we sucked.  Part of that was on the D of which the misfit Hunter was a part of.  They tried to see if he fit, he didn't.  So rather than pay him elite money, they let him go.  If we had kept him, many would be bitching about the amount of money he made and wasn't producing results.

We hired Flores because the previous DC sucked ass.  But at least he ran a 4-3 and Hunter was a fit for that non-defense.

No Donatell ran a 3-4 also. We sucked Hunters last year here because Cousins tore his achillies, end of story. Still though, you don't let a guy like Hunter, who is a proven pass rusher and all around great player for nothing.

Sorry, wasn't aware Donatell ran a 3-4 or any actual defense.

I wasn't conflating that record with Donatell. Donatell was here when we made the playoffs and got smoked by Danny Dimes. Just saying sack numbers can be inflated even when the team sucks.  But yes, remembering back that was Cousins getting hurt.  Too much pain right now to go back looking for pain.
