Vikings need to find a way to protect McCarthy
#11
He had time yesterday. There were a handful of plays where he was given an immense amount of time, scrambled around, waving people open, and he just pulls the trigger late. How many balls did we see get batted down at the line? It was almost like Doug Flutie back there trying to throw passes between the trees. He looks like a quarterback that hasn't played much football and the rest of the team did him no favors with the penalties. O'Neill, a veteran and team captain, was garbage yesterday. Jefferson was garbage yesterday. Can we put TJ Hockenson on a milk carton? With the amount of penalties there's been all year long and the fact that we have a young quarterback, maybe KOC should look at simplifying things a bit and not having so many presnap motions? I mean, these plays run down to the wire, someone is always in motion, and it looks like the snap/quarterback is going to collide into the player in motion constantly. For whats supposed to be a veteran offensive line with an "offensive genius" calling plays, the false start and presnap motion penalties are inexcusable.

Some of the mistakes were inexplicable to me, quite honestly. It wasn't just JJ, its also the players you mentioned. KOC. Myles Price....yuck.

The thing that gets me is we just look like a team that's not well coached. The amount of penalties we acquire on a weekly basis is inexcusable for a mostly veteran football team with a veteran, well respected, coaching staff. We've had way too many turnovers. I just don't get this football team and have no answers. Even when we are a mostly healthy unit, we kill off any chance of winning with penalties and turnovers. As far as confusing Viking squads go, this one is up there as the strangest.
