Mac Jones has been competent enough to keep the ship sailing and they are 5/2 as a result.
Back-up QB is something the Viking might want a re-do on. That was just a head-scratcher from the get-go and not a feather in the cap for KAM or frankly KOC
You could tell given their conversations with Rodgers, Darnold and Jones that the Vikings were not interested in just any backup, but an experienced veteran who could compete with JJ for the starting position. They were even willing to pay for that....to a point. So when they brought in Howell, my thought was that this is not AT ALL what the Vikings had in mind.
You obviously can't blame Jones and Darnold for taking starting jobs in Indy and Seattle, but part of me wonders if we might not be better off right now if we'd just stuck with Brett Rypien. Probably not. He'd be taking just as much of a beating as anyone else behind that depleted line.
