Cowherd specifically is incredibly transparent about this fact. He's repeatedly said he has to fill 15 hours a week of air time. And if he filled it with his honest takes the show would be real boring and he'd be out a job. All these guys would.

I listen to him a few times a month, and only if he's on when I'm driving. But since 2019 I can't think of another host (that's what he is, not a journalist) of his stature who's consistently been more complimentary of MN.

From day one he's gushed over KOC. Last few years frequently praises, KAM, the Wilfs, BFLO and the org as a whole. Ironically, last year was quite up on McCarthy. At one point saying he was most likely to end up the best of the young NFCN QB's

To those who get worked up over his hot takes, avoid his radio show. More so avoid click bait articles and videos posting snippets. Those have one purpose. Ironically this thread is an example of it working. Check out the stand alone videos he does to recap each week in the NFL. That's where you get his real opinion without the dramatics to drive engagement.

I look forward to the stage of the season where he does his "Collin right, Collin wrong" segment and says he was wrong about McCarthy.

This. Its Colin's schtick. He calls KOC 'The tall Sean McVay'. He has been extremely complimentary to the Vikings as mentioned, but this is his 'hot take' about JJM which gets as much engagement or more than complimentary takes. He knows people LOVE it when he does "Where Colin Was Wrong"....all an act. They are all actors really: Stephen A Smith, Skip Bayless, etc. Highly paid shit stirrers. All contrived. As you mention, it would be horribly boring otherwise for the majority that listen to this stuff. The key is to have villains that occasionally get their 'comeuppance'. Its formulaic really.
His co-host also came out as all in on the Vikings and JJ McCarthy so he needs to be the ying to that yang. There's the formula again at work.
