BREAKING: Its officially JJ McCarthy time

I think the $95 million dead cap hit the Chargers take is probably prohibitive.

I think what you meant to say is "the cap is a myth"

Luke Braun mentioned the other day that we're probably avoiding bringing in a backup at this time until Cam finds a new team just for comp pick purposes, and that's it wasn't a big deal unless as there's more than enough backup caliber guys to go around. Not sure how accurate that is, it just stuck out to me.

Cap can definitely be manipulated, but when a third of it is dead, nope.

Yeah I thought that was absolutely ridiculous. Like seriously come on now. As usual the talking heads milk these things for all they are worth

Tommy P was pretty emphatic that this chapter of the book is closed, thank heavens.
Hey A-aron, don't go away mad, just go away.
I wish him well and I wish him away.

I've been wrong on several of my predictions lately (Danny Dimes staying, Cooper Kupp signing), so why don't I just go out on a limb and make another prediction one of these options:
1) Vikings will sign Jameis Winston as QB backup for JJM.
2) Vikings will wait until TC and take a QB cap casualty who was someone else's backup.

I'd really prefer getting that veteran presence now, because I'd want the young'un to get all of the input he can regarding offseason prep, play retention, anything that helps him get ready to be our starting QB. That said, if this is a "wait for cap cuts" situation, I trust our GM and HC to know far better than I can.

I just want to kid to get healthy, then get the reps that show us, and the league, what we've got...and get this chapter fully started.
Build on 14-3, take back the NFCN, break the ****ing curse. Simple.

I didn't need Pelissero (or Rapaport or Russini, et al) to tell me we were re-signing Darnold when I knew we weren't, even though they kept trying until the day he left.

Ditto for Rodgers.  These "insiders" are just p.r. flaks for agents now.  Most of what they say is baloney.

Is he breaking this which some of us already figured out weeks and months ago because it's "news"?  No, it's because the agent campaign to get Rodgers to the Vikings hit the wall of the reality of their total lack of interest.

So this is how the agent, through their pet mouthpiece Tom P., repositions the story as a Vikings decision.  The decision was made a long time ago.

The only reason the team doesn't issue public comment during the bullshit drama is that they have to make deals with that agent in the future.  Their best play is to ignore it and say nothing.

I'll say this, online Viking Nation is raking these media types that kept trying to push the Rodgers narrative, lol.

And this has been my take for months, you just hand the keys over to a top 10 drafted QB....its what you do:

How is this news when the Vikes traded up to draft JJ at 10?? When you are drafted in the top 10 you are handed the keys to the car….  Period.  It’s only newsworthy if the Vikings considered a trade OR the Rodgers interest was in him being a starter

Hey, you always gotta ask if you are the other team...EVERYTHING has a price - except maybe a franchise NFL QB lol.

I'm glad the Vikings finally made this announcement. I was questioning earlier this week in the QB2 thread, why havent the Vikings declared JJM as the presumed starter yet???

Glad they heard me out. It was past the right time.

Yeah they have a plan, Bradbury snaps and Passtronaut runs for his life ? Big Grin
