Random Thoughts Pre Draft

I cant imagine him or Barron there at 24.

I think the value for the spot will be DT, RB, S or trade-down.

Unless they REALLY like one of the tail-backs, my $ is on Emmanwori or Harmon being the pick (if they stay put).

Tar Heel fan here, no Omarion Hampton please, at least at 24. He's a damn good rb but he's a power runner with athleticism. He wasn't asked to pass block much in college, but he should have been. Tar Heel offensive line stunk. Hampton is basically the same runner, and same size, as Jordan Mason. Maybe Hampton is better, but maybe not. If that's the pick ... trade back.

Him or Barron possibly being available at 24 is unfathomable to me. Once Barron balled out vs OSU I put that one on the back burner. Johnson I never even bothered looking into because it just wasn’t happening.

Emmanwori is intriguing to me. That SoCar D was just nuts. I’m assuming he’d take over Mettelus’ role after Hitman retires in the worst case scenario. Situational mix and match starter depending on the O we face. Wanna spy a QB? 3rd down dime backer? Big nickel? ST demon? Doesn’t take much to think Daniels and BFlo would want this guy bad.

Harmon is probably my favorite pick at 24. 4i in base or NT in passing downs. Drops the age of the iDL room.

One of my other favorite prospects this season is Jonah Monheim. Had a great Senior Bowl week and game. Very smooth mover, excellent size, and massive position flexibility. He could win LG and then slide to C once Kelly hangs them up. You could also put him in at LT until Darrisaw returns.

11 draft day trades under Kwesi. If your mock doesn’t have at least 2 trades you’re not paying attention. As I’ve mentioned before, if I’m a GM without a contract I’m gonna at least entertain swinging for the fences.

If Hunter gets past 3 I’m dialing. Instant CB1 and legit WR3. 80-90 snaps a game and he probably doesn’t even break a sweat.

If Jeanty gets past 6 I’m dialing. DCs would get to choose between bringing a S up in run support exposing themselves to heavy doses of Jefferson and Addison OR playing two deep and watch our revamped OL open holes for a more north and south Barry Sanders. Either way you’re fucked. Like tantric sex fucked.

TE Luke Lachey may be able to be had late.  He had a bad senior season and has been oft-injured the last two years.  However, he has a size / speed combo that makes him quite attractive.  His blocking needs a little work, but I think he's got it in him to kind of blossom over the next couple of years.  Definite take late if there.

Only a fool says no to an Iowa TE. Probably a priority UDFA or 7th.

I’m dialing after the 3 hole if he’s still there with the 25 and 26 first round picks plus a sweetener to get him. Easily.

I'd be on board with that but it would probably take one heck of a sweetener to jump into the top 5. Addison, maybe?

I have been trying to sell myself on Emmanwori at 24 and just cannot do it. Trade back into the second round and take him there?, ok. The only 1st round Safety I see is Starks. My preference, if we can find a dance partner, is trading back and taking a CB with the first pick - Revel, Amos, Thomas, Hairston, Morrison. There is so much depth at DI that we can wait on that. I do agree on a Safety but that would probably be the second pick - the one we get for trading back. Winston would be great. Then DI with our next pick. We do need a TE and there are several good ones - BTW, if Loveland falls to 24, I could see us taking him. He would make JJ's job easier.

Addison? Fuck no. This board seriously undervalues Addison for whatever reason.

A comp pick would be my sweetener. Hell throw in Nailor too.

Trend over the post FA period is heading towards S. I can see the draw of Emmanwori, especially one would could play nickel or even dime iLB. Add in his ST game and it’s easy to make a case.

I’m not sure we take TE anywhere near that high especially with what we’re paying Hock. I do see Hock getting a lot of work this year.
