Vikings Ruined Daniel Jones’ Free Agency Moment with Looming Sam Darnold Decision

But there's also a very real chance we end up losing two with only '26 comp picks to show for it. I suppose that's a worst-case scenario. Starting JJ in '25 with literally no one behind him means we have to go find yet another QB.

Best-case would be Jones getting no attention on the free agent market and the Vikings signing him to a Darnold-like 1-year deal to be JJ's backup and the Vikings finding a way to get some draft capital for Darnold. Tag and trade really shouldn't be as difficult or as controversial as it seems to be.

I believe they can execute the franchise tag as early as next Tuesday.  So much going on this week, they'll have a much better feel for the mkt and their QB options on that flight home from Indy.

Reading between the lines, which I probably shouldn't do, it sorta makes me wonder if there's a disagreement between KOC and KAM, with the former QB thinking his reclamation project's "journey" has earned him the right to chase his big bag of money on the open market, and KAM applying the brakes on that until they see what teams might offer in a tag and trade.

I would not have been happy if I was a GM and my HC was saying that to the public...

I think KOC went off-script - hard.

I don't think KOC meant that the Vikings would not be one of the teams making him an offer in free agency, just that he earned a big pay raise. Because he did. But I think with so many people interpreting that as non-interest is maybe why he felt the need to clarify what he meant in that interview with PA.
