Schefter: Teams are going to ask the Vikings about JJ McCarthy
#11
But, the way Sam is playing some team might offer over the Vikings pay line in free agency.
Vikings have to tag and go from there.

Latest rumor is McCarthy is recovering 'extremely well' from surgery and he's passed some mobility benchmarks. He'll be good to go 100% for May OTAs....probably before that.

The reason is it is not worth taking one inch of mental bandwidth away from the singular focus of winning next Sunday night, and then to carry that momentum into the playoffs.

This is not the time to be distracting.  The sports buffoons who keep talking are just creating content for you, because it can be made to seem controversial which translates to ratings, which translates to revenue.

February is the right time, and not a minute before.

How about a bye week extension for KOC?  Would that he ok?
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

This is great news!

Dont want to read about swelling, soreness etc...

I dont take it for granted these guys come back 100%, even on a meniscus.

I don't know why there is all this pressure to do an extension for KOC now.  Even the media saying how "dumb" it was to not extend him after last season...  Who extends coaches after two years of their deal?  Especially when it's a first time HC?

Undoubtedly KOC has earned a hefty pay raise.  There is no need to do it now.  Just let the focus be on the team and the season and the Wilfs and his agent will have plenty of time after the season ends to work it out.

The other aspect of this, I'm sure KOC's agent is advising to wait because if the Vikings get to or win the Super Bowl, that extension goes up a few more million.  And KOC seems like the type of guy that doesn't want to distract from the team with his own contract extension.

Like Montana Tom said a few posts prior, this is the media drumming up "controversy" where there isn't any for clicks.

I agree - at this time of year? Its all about results on the field.

Hell, the SB is being played just NINE DAYS b4 teams can start applying tags on players.

Scary to think about it, but the new league year isnt that far away -

Feb. 18 to March 4: Window to tag franchise and transition players

March 12: Start of the new league year and free agency
April 24-26: 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay
April 7: Teams with new head coaches can begin offseason workouts
April 21: Teams with returning head coaches can begin offseason workouts

Another key date to remember is March 10, when the legal tampering period for free agents begins. Usually, the first day of the legal tampering period is one of the busiest days on the NFL calendar.

I would be pretty surprised if his agents and the team's people aren't already working on the framework of a new contract for KOC.

The Vikings are essentially holding what would be the #1 rated quarterback in the draft if McCarthy were in this draft. Teams will absolutely call.

Here's a hypothetical; what if the Giants offered the #4 overall pick, Dexter Lawrence, and a second round pick in 2026 for McCarthy? Any takers?

Is it safe to say any of last years top 6 QB's would be the #1 rated QB in 25?
