2024 Senior Bowl

I just stopped reading info from the Senior Bowl as the articles continue to contradict themselves.
Just read one today that said Bo Nix's stock is plummeting after a lousy Day 2.  Tomorrow he'll be the star of the show.

Shrine game probably doesn't deserve its own thread, so I'll just put it here. Tua's brother and Frank Gore's son among standouts. Keep in mind Brock Purdy and Ivan Pace Jr. played in the Shrine.

Penix electing not the play in the Senior Bowl today. Seems odd he would want to "rest his case" on a poor title game followed by an underwhelming week in Mobile.

Actually don't blame him at all.  I can't see him fall past the middle of the second round but if plays poorly in the Senior Bowl or, heaven forbid, gets injured and he loses millions of dollars.  And as mentioned by Sticky, I think there is a lot of differences of opinion regarding the practices.  I think his interviews will be more important than his practices (new receivers, new schemes/plays).

Understood, but you know as well as I do there are going to be those in the NFL who question his courage, leadership, commitment, pick a word, after this decision. If it's about a potential injury, then that's just another reminder of the four season ending injuries in his past.

I like Penix, probably more than most, but I know how people think.

Spencer Rattler out there trying to be seen. He's an enigma: a 5 star QB out of high school, some thought might be a generational pick in the Draft after his 2020 season, he's never reached that high since then. He's got a big arm, is mobile and can throw on the run or in the pocket. Short at 6' 0". He locks into initial reads and looks, the cerebral part of the game challenges him. Had a nice 2023 but scouts think that might be his ceiling.

So in spot where he needed to take the stage and show his heart, he turned into a shrinking Penix.

Looks like he might've secured that 7th QB slot and there's probably not as much separating tier 2 from tier 3 now, with Nix and Penix maybe moving down a bit, and Rattler and Pratt moving up. JJM's the big unknown. Or at least it seems that way to me.

Oh and btw, both Ponder and Mond were Senior Bowl MVPs.

How do you feel about all the draft eligible players who skipped their school's bowl game (such as Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Joe Alt, Laiatu Latu and Caleb Williams)?  That, to me, is far more damning than skipping an all-star game where you are not working with your teammates or coaches.  Though I agree that skipping the all star game buys into the Penix narrative.

I think McCarthy will end up as QB4 and may get drafted a lot higher than many think. Personally I think him behind Kirk for a year or two would be perfect.
