No surprise but Ron Rivera fired too. What is surprising is that the Commanders group has hired former Vikings GM Rick Spielman to help with the coaching search.

What the chances that Spelly finds himself as the best GM candidate Smile

I'm actually surprised that it is taking Spelly to find another NFL GM job but not surprised by Zimmer at all.

Rick Spielman hired to help Commanders with search for GM, coachSpielman is back in the NFL in an apparent temporary position.

Included in the blockbuster report Monday morning that former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers has been hired to lead the Washington Commanders' search for a new director of football operations and head coach is the name of former Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman, who has also been brought in as part of the search group. Spielman, out of the NFL since the Vikings made sweeping changes to its front office and coaching staff following the 2021 season, will aid Myers as the Commanders make significant foundational changes after a four-win season that sets them up for the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, Myers and Spielman have been tasked with "looking for a coach that can create a lasting winning culture similar to the ‘Patriots, Ravens & Chiefs.’"
Both Myers and Spielman have been hired in temporary roles, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
Spielman was the GM in Minnesota from 2012 to 2021 and after five years as the Vikings' vice president of player personnel. The only coaching change he made during his time in Minnesota was hiring Mike Zimmer to replace Leslie Frazier ahead of the 2014 season.
Zimmer and Spielman worked together until both were fired after the 2021 season.

Ron Rivera won because in the midst of all the chaos, he survived cancer. Can you imagine dealing with all that other shit on top of having cancer?
Can you imagine with all the money Rivera has, needing that chaos/job, while in the midst of dealing with cancer?
Sure the money can make it easier but it is still cancer. I was just commenting on resiliency of the human spirit.

Rivera's got a screw loose to take on an NFL franchise while fighting cancer and Washington was morally bankrupt for letting him do it.

Maybe it's a sense of purpose, competition or distraction. Who knows? Maybe he takes a break now.

After six seasons in charge, Mike Vrabel is out as head coach of the Tennessee Titans.

On Tuesday, owner Amy Adams Strunk announced the move and called
the decision to remove Vrabel “as difficult as any I’ve made as
Controlling Owner.”

Vrabel proved to be an immediate success with the Titans when he
was hired in 2018, leading the team to four consecutive winning seasons.
He was named the NFL’s Coach of the Year in 2021.

However, the Titans have struggled over the past two years,
including during 2023. They finished 6-11 this season and missed the
playoffs for a second consecutive year.

“I believe the Tennessee Titans can and will be a premier National Football League franchise,” Strunk said.

“It’s what our fans deserve, and there will be hard decisions
along the way. My decision today is not only a reflection of my
disappointment in our past two seasons, but also my recognition that
further changes are necessary to fully achieve our vision.”

Vrabel leaves with a winning regular season record at 54-45. He
was 2-3 in the postseason and reached the AFC Championship Game in the
2019 season.

There are now six NFL head coach vacancies after the Atlanta Falcons fired Arthur Smith and the Washington Commanders fired Ron Rivera earlier this week.

Apparently he's a name to watch for the New England job if Belichick is not retained
