The number after the team's name tells you what you need to do to that team's total to make the game even. So Vikings +3 means the Vikings need an additional 3 points to make it even. In other words, the Lions are favored by 3.

Listening to one of guys who set football lines at a Vegas casino, he said they try very hard to come up with a number that will cause 50% of the money to be bet on one team and 50% on the other. Since the casino keeps the vig on all losing bets, this guarantees the casino will make money. The casino is not gambling.

Back when the Cowboys were dominant, they had to really pump the Cowboys' line because Cowboy fans/bettors were so overconfident. If the line should have been Cowboys -3 (because they were on average 3 points better than their opponent) they would set the line at Cowboys -6 or -6.5 to get the money evenly spread out. The "smart" money would bet on the Cowboys' opponent.
Interesting. Thanks for posting. Never knew any of that.

Flores will pressure Goff through 3 quarters and may get him to throw a pick or two allowing the Vikings to take a one score lead into the 4th.  Then Flores will unleash his 3 man rush and allow Goff to go untouched while torching the secondary with underneath throws moving down the field with ease.

Not sure what team you've been watching but the Vikings have been wildly successful with their 3-man rushes. Like at a historic level. I don't know what the numbers are now, but before our last two games the Vikings netted 5 sacks and 3 INTs using the drop 8. It's how we beat Brock Purdy.

Jalen Hurts struggled against it too. Against our drop-8, Hurts went 9 of 10 for 39 yds and was sacked twice. His completion lengths were as follows: 1, 5, 1, 0, 5, 2, 5, 8, 12. He got one 1st down.

Did you see Browning last week? Those two huge throws to Higgins and Boyd were against heavy blitzes.

I think if KOC had a different QB we would have a chance, or if Mullens had a different play caller we would have a chance.Just my opinion.

I think we either win close or lose in typical heartbreaking fashion. My hope and prediction is a win. Looks like Mattison will be a go today so if KO reverts to him getting a majority of the work over Ty I'll pull my hair out. At that point start hedging with Lions in-game plays.
Amon Ra will likely kill us, but he does that to everyone. Jahmir Gibbs will be a problem too. They're definitely a good team. But we have weapons too and Mullens will move the ball I think. Just hope his turnovers come on their end of the field and not right up against our own endzone.

If Alex gets more carries than Ty I'LL tear your hair out.  :# David Montgomery scares me as much as Gibbs. We always seem to struggle to stop him. But this is a different defense this year. Vikings run defense ranks 5th in the NFL (Lions right behind us at 6th).

And I think you're exactly right on Mullens. It's not IF he will turn the ball over. He will. We just have to hope they're not overly consequential.
