Browns waive Kellen Mond

I was excited when we drafted him because it at least showed me that after years of neglecting the QB pipeline that Rick was maybe possibly finally waking up to the fact that having someone who wasn’t Mannion in the QB room might not be such a bad thing. Shame that guy was Mond and he turned out to stink.

Sidenote- I know Mond was/is bad but I still can’t believe Zimmer started Mannion in the game against GB after Kirk got Covid. Once that happened and Mannion predictably stunk out the joint and we got rolled, I knew without a doubt it was time to clean house.
Exactly.  Not sad Rick finally spent a decent draft pick on taking a shot at the QBOTF.  Yeah it didn't work out.  But at least he tried.

He will get another shot somewhere and could still project to a good backup. DTR made him and easy cut this year.

Remember when some Viking fans lost their shit over this comment?

and they still should have,  Zimmer was being a dick,  like so many said when he got here,  his schtick would work as long as the team was winning,  once that changed, so did he,  helluva defensive coach,  shit head coach, and overall pretty much a dick.
Yeah, Z was being a dick here for sure. And I think you accurately cover him with your reply above. Just because Mond sucked doesn't mean it ok for Z to be a giant prick.
Especially when his other option was Mannion, as I said above.

Speaking for all fans and all viewers everywhere, I can say unequivocally that none of us wanted or needed to see more of Mannion either, Zim.
At that point I didn't need to see more of Zim either.

Rick admitted in an interview that he took Mond because ownership suggested he draft a QB with something more than a day 3 pick, which had been his m.o. since he took Teddy at 32--no real investment at the position other than signing Kirk--so he did.

Wait for it ..... RS / KAM comparisons.
lol, yep. The 66th pick in the Draft. 66TH PICK!! Nice one, Rick. And don't forget KAM sucks.
Well since you brought it up, if you remember, Rick moved down from 14 to 23 and picked up 66 and 86 and he still got his guy who is a pro bowl LT and one of the best in the game.  Mond had the physical talent to potentially succeed and is the kind of QB you roll the dice on in the 3rd round.  Nothing was lost and he was playing with a free pick.

That is how you run a draft and maximize your draft capital.  But then again maybe you prefer trades where we move all the way down from 12 to 32 and also give up a 2nd rounder (46) for 34 and 66.  That still does not seem possible!  But yeah if anyone questions the almighty one they are ostracized here :/

First, I'm not a Spielman basher. I thought he did ok with Minnesota. So relax with the onion skin. I just happen to want to give the new GM more than a year and a half on the job and coming off 13 wins.....but that's just me being level-headed and logical.

I meant it more as a comment on us, than any Vike management.   Too subtle, perhaps?

So being level headed and logical was taking a shot at Spielman that had no kind of validity to it?  Personally I credit the 13 wins more so to Rick than Kam, but that is just me being logical in terms of who carried the team last year.

It was one of the dumbest trades and one of the worst first acts as a GM I've ever seen. When the almighty gives me something to get excited about, I will...until then winning 13 games with Spielmans roster does nothing for me and I don't really care what anyone on a message board thinks. But you are dead on...

I credit Cousins and the team with the 13 wins, including Cousins' record of 4th quarter comebacks for a lot of those wins.
