At lesast the Niner’s took Hargrave from the Eagles…

Agreed....

Chiefs, Mahomes/Reid are my 2nd favorite team. IF I had to root for another NFC team, the 9'ers have a storied history and I like their coach and the personnel they have today too.

But they got too big a question mark @ QB right now.

thats my head scratcher of this offseason,  how is nobody linking the niners to a QB that isnt rehabbing a major injury,  and has more that a few games under their belt?  how do you assemble that much talent on one roster,  and then risk wasting it with essentially a rookie QB?  sure the Chiefs kind of did it,  but I would say the Niners are more SB ready right now than any team in the league,  if they just had a half assed QB... whats Dilfer up to these days?

Got someone in mind there Jimmy…!?  Wink :p
I might be able to think of someone.

Seriously though,  we have an owner that thinks our team is a contender,  when in reality we got smoked by most the real teams we played last year,  and the Niners are sitting out there with the best roster in the league IMO and they are seemingly standing pat at the position.  Unless they have an ace in the hole and are just waiting for the right time.

We were the 4th or 5th best team in the conference last year and certainly behind the 49ers. I still think the 49ers are content going into next year with Lance/Purdy and bringing in a Matt Ryan or Baker Mayfield as the backup. The one team that I keep going back to that would make sense in a trade is Washington, who I suspect if they can't pull off a Lamar Jackson blockbuster, will be scrambling to address the position in a make or break year for Ron Rivera and that front office.

I am with you, 100%.  Maybe it's the payment of the bonus date that would hold back a Cousins move for now.

Cousins should be wearing a Niners uniform next year, and Lance (& a 3rd) OR their 1st should be ours.  With (2) 1sts, we could swing a deal for Lamar.  With (2) 1sts we could move one for a 1st in next year's draft (to have ammo to go after a top pick).

If Cousins isn't in the plans for 2024, he should be on the move this offseason.  Get something for him while you can.

I am ready for 2023 to be the year we reload the defense with picks and pickups, grab a QB of the future, and get ready to rock in 2024

This eliminates forever the notion that Shanahan wants Cousins.

Sadly, no other team wants him or will trade for him even if he was available.

The Vikings are stuck with him and I expect Kwesi to double down on stupid and extend Kork again.

It's his GM career.

Well there is the answer. Again, Washington is the team that makes the most sense in a potential Cousins trade.

the optics of that move for The Commanders wouldn't be very pretty Wink

Kinda reminiscent of Fran going back to Minny?

I just dont see the Vikings doing any more with KC now then let him play out this season.

I think it makes all the sense in the world and its somewhere Cousins would likely waive his no trade clause to go back to, especially since they have the cap space to rework his deal. That Redskins team has a really good roster, they just can't get any kind of consistent play at QB and I think Sam Howell is the only one on their roster currently. The smart money says this is it for Rivera and that front office, so trading for a veteran makes more sense than trying to move up in the draft for a rookie and mortgaging the future. Geoff thinks we could get a package of picks for Cousins including a high pick (1st or 2nd round). If we let Kirk play out his contract and he walks next offseason, we would likely only get a late 3rd round comp pick in return. So again, if we won't meet his guaranteed money demands....trade him, it's that simple. We gain nothing holding on to him and trying to make another run for this one upcoming season.
