anyone stoopid enough to bring hash oil into Russia? Well, lets let darwinism go to work.

Look, we couldn't let her rot over there forever. But I was not for this trade one bit and had zero empathy for her.
thats where I am at on this deal,  did she deserve the punishment she got... hell no,  is her freedom worth releasing an internationally wanted terrorist,  no Fn way.    the administration green lighting this deal just screams of more corruption and back door dealings.  I have zero belief that this was a straight up prisoner exchange.

Why couldn't she rot?  A foreign country has laws.  She broke them.  She should face the punishment.  Instead we sent the merchant of death so he could kill millions more people just so Britney could dunk a basket ball.
the laws are reported to be 15 days if she had been a citizen,  and 15 years if a foreigner?  now I can see a stiffer penalty for a non citizen,  but that is ridiculous and was likely not even a law until this case popped up and the commie fuckers saw their opening.  I typically agree with you do the crime you do the time,  but this was beyond acceptable.

I do wonder how those in jail in the US for pot crimes,  many of which broke laws that can be traced back to tough on drugs Joe from the 90s, feel about US citizens in American jails,  while their president trades international terrorists for an American hating person in a foreign prison...  i bet joe dont win the prison vote in the next election. :p

Agreed. She was a wealthy tourist or seeking more money.  It wasn't like a regular citizen got caught in a trap.

We traded the guy they made the Lord Of War movie after for a celebrity that broke the law in a foreign nation she was told not to go to.

Meanwhile, we have thousands upon thousands of people in our own country locked in cages for similar marijuana charges.

Someone make this make sense.
While leaving a marine vet there.

One with less than honorable reason for being called a Marine.

Who is Paul Whelan?

Paul Whelan, 52, is a Marine turned
corporate security executive who was convicted of espionage and is
serving a 16-year sentence in a Russian prison.

He is a citizen of four countries -
the United States, Canada, Britain and Ireland. He received a
bad-conduct discharge from the Marines in 2008, according to military
records. He later became the corporate security director at BorgWarner, a
Michigan-based automotive parts supplier.

Why is this a big deal now  and not when Reed was released?

I mean just saying.

Read real slow, Whelan, not honorable Marine Vet, not worthy of the patriotic paint brush.  What would you have said if the opportunity to free an unlawfully detained American citizen, like BG, Marc Fogel  or Sarah Krivanek had been passed over?  Victor Bout has been in custody since 2008, isolated and exploited. If you believe some conspiracy that he still has some unknown ability to kill Americans after being detained for 14 years, remain in your basement.

Just read it real slow, look in a mirror and lip read. In an hour or so it may make sense, .... or not.
