You know how this goes, right? The Vikings give us hope after being left for dead....2 wins in a row against the NFCN.....bad schedule next 6 games....and they'll suck out loud on MNF against Chicago and we'll all be slinging our feces at the wall in the monkey cage at the zoo.
Well...I see it like this. Regardless of win or loss, I'd much rather be watching the game on Monday night with my kids in our jerseys and our horn, hoping for a win....than not caring about it or watching it at all, which would probably be the case if we had lost the last two.
I was all for Tanking for Trevor or Justin, but that isn't happening anymore. Might as well embrace potential heartbreak now? I say we go beat Chicago and really mess with all of our heads

Yes - or Cousins will actually shock the world and have a 400-yard game on MNF and people will be raving about his arm and what he can do...but he won't do it consistently. That's the pattern, both for this team and Cousins, and people - not just fans but the team's decision-makers - see the highlight moments like the Saints playoff game last year and bet on it happening consistently, but they are outliers in the overall results.

Yep. Can't count that out, either. Being a Viking fan is always surprising in one way: you know its going to go bad, you just don't know when.

Yep, and therein lies the problem, and why we will likely be moving on from him either next year or the year after. We've all seen Cousins light (stink) it up on several occasions. All QBs have good and bad days based on a special defensive game plan or an inability to run or protect. The problem with Cousins is there seems to be no rhyme or reason to when he goes off and goes "off." The only thing you can somewhat reliably predict with him is underperforming in "big" games. To me, it couldn't be more obvious that he lacks the kind of "mental toughness" QBs need in today's game. He has no swagger.
Beat Chicago and we will go into that Tampa game with 7 wins still completely lost on what this season is about
Imagine being 7-5 with two plays keeping us from 9-3 in a year where the D was decimated and Kirk has been below average.

Oh I hate that "except for 1 play we woulda been..." thinking. 1 play and Lamar Jackson beats us, even in game 7 Rodgers had a chance and could have sent them home disappointed - by that reasoning I could say this team could almost be 1-7 since their only "convincing" win was the mighty Lions.
They won what they won.

What if it's the truth? I mean if you're going to be truly objective in your evaluation of the team, it's true that this team lost two games to two good opponents by 1 point each. It's also true that they looked like shit the first two weeks of the season. It's also true that they beat a very good Green Bay team and a not very good Lions team. But if we had paid more attention to "how" we played Seattle and Tennessee, we might have seen the Packer and Lion games coming....Sure, a matter only oddsmakers might care about.
In either case, I was surprised the Vikings beat the Packers, but only because I thought, at 1-5, they might try to tank for a QB. However, I've said all along that this team was too talented to have any hope of picking high enough to do that.
We'll see what happens in Chicago. We might win; we might get blown out. But it won't change who this team is. And that's a team with a top 5 offense, the NFL's best running back, an improving line, an inconsistent QB having a bad year, and a very young and banged up defense. You're just going to get mixed results with that.
In 2020, I should expect stats like this.
Zimmer has never beaten Naggy. This may be a good week to reverse that like he revered the Lafleur trend. I expect them to lose though plus Sloter was just signed to the Bears practice squad :-)
