Was Diggs the canary in the mine?

All of the reactions to the tweets drove me as crazy as the actual tweets. I wanted him here because he lifts the level of play, demonstrates a lot of passion on the field and is simply a highly skilled player. I was at the place where I just ignored the tweets. Once he decided he no longer wanted to be here and was going to do what it took to leave, then it was time to move on. The Vikings did. I have too.
I agree with moving on.  I just think Diggs was one of the most intelligent players we had on the team.  And if he wanted out he was seeing something that was not apparant to a normal fan like me.  whatever that reason seems to be playing out this season.  Maybe it was the scheme or the QB or the O-line but he saw something and I would love an answer from him.  I miss diggs but as a fan I wish we knew his real reasons

I think it was on the verge of getting very ugly with the Vikings/Diggs, and more out in the open too.

Jimmy Bulter'esque ugly...

Manning Chargers ugly...

Diggs is a sensitive guy, I think he was hurt by the situation. I don't think he had issues with Cousins running the offense, I think the issue was the offensive philosophy. It is a scoring league and a passing league. I think he wanted them to make the most of it.

At the end of last season I started bidding on a private meet and greet package with Diggs using frequent flyer miles. I bowed out at 600k miles. At that point, I decided I wasn't *that* much of a fan Smile Based on the bidding (and everything else), he was an absolute favorite.

Here's one of the Vikefans tweets I mentioned. Read through the replies for more context.

all “real playmakers” want the ball.  Diggs wants the ball, Theilen wants the ball, Rudy / Irv, Bisi, Mattison, Cook......every real competitor worth their salt wants the ball.

a long sustained ground game controls the clock, wins TOP, and keeps your defense rested.  The ground game comes up front. you need some mean, nasty, mouth-breathin, knuckle-draggin, blood-spittin, maulers up front.  get inside some pads, leverage some spines, and open a GD hole!

someone on the line needs to step up and say “run behind me!”.  Someone on the O line needs to step the F up!

I was suprised about the reaction amongst some fans too.  “Hit the road” as a reaction didnt understand the depth of this loss.  Diggs was widely viewed as a massive talent and one of the best recievers in the league.  I was alarmed and puzzled by his wanting to leave since he did have a great year statistically and was getting paid too.  wow 600,000 points that is impressive!

yap, yap, yap......yeah....in week one he had 3 catches for 30..something.
Is the ghost of Diggs past gonna solve our O line issues?

He wanted out, He’s gone, lets move forward and fix what we CAN control

Yes, it seemed crazy. After reading that he didn't want to co-exist here with some people, I completely gave up and stopped wondering what happened. That could mean anything.

My compliments on the "yap, yap, yap" lol

I agree. The day he signed elsewhere I stopped following him on twitter. But so many other Vikings fans that I also follow keep responding to his tweets so they keep showing up. Soon, I'm going to stop following them too. I wish Diggs well, sort of.

I suppose if our season was off to a better start he'd be less of a topic.

exactly right....this is a non-issue if we won both games or even split.  but we lost, so “it HAS to be Diggs departure”. I call bunk.   Did it hurt? of course, but he cant pass protect, he cant fix Hunters neck, he cant play for Pierce who opted out, he cant play corner...its a syllabus of errors, and the “Diggs excuse” is short sighted IMO
