I think the Dem's are happy with the Lincoln project just the way it is.  I don't think there is any collusion cooperation between the two.  They are only aligned about one thing.

1.  If he's guilty (needs to be judged by a jury) they he should face the punishment for his crimes.
2.  Damn, $25 million dollars was donated to build a wall? I'm in the wrong business. I wouldn't even know how to spend $25M that I earned let alone stole from someone else.

Think of the time, too. Trump was getting mocked left and right for his stupid wall that was never going to happen. Trump voters saw this as an opportunity to prove everyone wrong. Unfortunately, Bannon and his crew saw this as an opportunity to make some money on the back of fear and ignorance.
