Vikings Wire: 53-man roster prediction
#11
I hate this season already.  Just almost no way for a fan to have any clue about anything without presseason and no one attending these camps

NFL, NFLPA agree to practice squad expansion, changes
First off, as had been previously speculated, practice squads will expand to 16 players for this season. The practice squads were already set to expand from 10 to 12 with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, and now they are set to expand even more in light of the COVID-19 issue.
In addition, teams will be able to “protect” four members of their practice squads from getting poached by other teams each week. That would, essentially, make those players members of the active roster.
One of the big changes to the practice squads, and perhaps the biggest one, at least in my view, is a rule that was agreed on when the new CBA was signed. That rule says that a team can now bring a player up to the active roster and send him back to the practice squad twice without having to subject them to waivers.

Vikings now look smart for drafting 15 players. They pretty much can have two real game look see with some of these guys instead of cutting them due to roster size.
The article predicts 11 drafted players make the 53 roster.

If the other 4 drafted players land on PS they're protected from being poached by another team.

Why would any team poach a player?  There isnt going to be tape on them from preseason. Teams are going to have a hard time evaluating their own vs someone elses.

Scouting staffs are familiar with every player in the NFL. I've read that teams typically do full evaluations of about 1,000 of the 3,500 draft eligible players. Only about about half of those end up in NFL camps...
