I can't remember a coach having had to deal with so much as Zim has, and he's still been pretty successful here. That alone would make me want to give him an extension. The grass isn't always greener on the other side, folks.
I dont think any of us should assume Zimmer wants to continue this too much longer???
And this was lost in the COVID thread, but the Twins have sidelined a # of their coaches who are 65, 68 for the season...Zimmer and many on his staff are over 60 too - they going to be hanging out in the locker room with a bunch of 20 some year olds post game?
Everything is more difficult now...

Maybe, but I haven't seen much to make me think he wants to quit coaching sooner rather than later. I certainly don't see him coaching for another 10 years, but I think he genuinely loves this team/organization, and wants to see this thing through to what hopefully amounts to a SB victory.
But, as you said, everything is more difficult now. COVID has really effed up things for the entire world. And all I want is for football to be played this year.
Yeah, have gotten to know more about people here, I just need to get back to yelling at the kids to get off my lawn.
I am skeptical of a complete season, but I think it could be a great year for seeing the youth go to the next level. Also think Zim may hang it up after this and get to enjoying hunting in Kentucky.
I too am looking forward to football. My sophmore just started weights again after 14 days off because 1 person tested positive without symptoms. So as much as I look forward to his season, I don't see how it works out in reality. People are living in fear and won't pull their head out.
As far as the NFL, the money talks, so I expect a season. But who knows, many of the stars have enough money and like the NBA may opt to sit out. If that is the case, and without fans, the league is going to crumble.

I am too, football is a part of my cadence for the year, its grounding in some aspects...
OTOH, football is the ultimate contact sport and COVID is going to luv that.
I don't see how it's possible looking at it logically - 1/2 a team could be out for a given game (s). Imagine going into Chicago and having to play an important Norris tilt without KC, Cook, Thielen and Bradbury???
With the resurgence in Covid going on, wait times for results are up to 6 days right now. Maybe the billionaire league will get their results turned around sooner...sigh
Whether there is a season or not... I've lost alot of zeal to watch it. I'm sure I will watch the Vikes... but, probably, only when I get around to it. It will hardly be "must see TV".

you say that now, but Vikings Packers............Sunday September 13th, I can bet that the sermon will be a little more concise and that the hand shakes will be a bit more like a quick gimme 5 than they have been. B)

I'm begging for live sports at this point. The Basketball Tournament has me excited for the first time ever and knowing the Twins start at the end of the month I can hardly wait.
The secret to happiness in 2020 is low expectations. And I have zero expectations of NFL football. So, I'll consider any bit I see to be a bonus. I watched the re-broadcast of 2009 Packers @ Vikings and was cheering every sack like it was a live game.
Lets GO .... do something, sometime, somewhere with a football.

Maybe we should just have a tailgate, BBQ and frozen drinks...what say you? How do you suppose the mmpls pd would react to a tailgate on a Sunday morning with no games taking place?
They better just have the games imo.
