Window open or shut???
#11
Every team in the NFL is a couple of key additions or subtractions away from all 16 possible record outcomes. The crazy thing is, even if we lose the players we're expecting to lose, we will still have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. Vikings being better next year will be about scheme. For example, 3 league average corners playing in a better scheme that suits them well can actually be better than what we got last year from our three 1st rounders. Offense should be better regardless of what we do.

The 2017 Vikings team looked a lot like this year's 49ers.  Strong rushing team with a QB that could make some plays and a dominant defense.  This current version of the Vikings is looking more like the 2018-2019 Saints...  very good offensive team with a bend-but-don't break defense that generates quite a few turnovers.

I don't think losing Everson, Linval, Waynes, etc. will close our window.  The Vikings have some young replacements that could step in to fill those roles (Weatherly, Odenigbo, Hughes, Hill, Watts, etc.).  However, we may need to find a way to win differently than what we have become accustomed to in the past.  The 2020 version of the Vikings may need to rely more on the offense to win games than the other way around.

I think our window stays open as long as we have a legit starting QB and we continue to draft well.  It will only close if we lose Cousins and don't get lucky finding a QB in the draft.
