Hey, another one. Murica!
We could do this every day. I think I read 147 so far this year.
Or twice in the same day.

Welcome to instant, horrific celebrity!

The anti-gun club will ignore the decades that firearms have been widely available, or how they used to be a larger staple in what was taught at home...but, those people miss the point (due to exceptional effort).

Sick, angry, and/or hurting people find ways to kill each other.  Bombs, cars running through crowds, slashing sprees...all go on, regardless what spineless senator goes on The View and insists that meaningless laws will be "common sense".

Here's some common sense for you:

Never, EVER, in human history, have we been beset by a fraction of the media onslaughts that we endure every day.  Banner ads, political "news" agencies, billboards, radio, TV, signs plastered on every bus, bench, and available flat surface...all trying to vie for a scrap of our attention.

For the lonely, for the powerfully sad, for the shunned, for the unstable...the thought of dominating a chunk of that, making some grand (and usually final) statement becomes all too seductive.  Hell, some even prep their manifestos ahead of time and are guaranteed to get screen time.

The guns were here for generations, but this information age has been growing with terrifying abandon for three decades, now...and how does that compare to the mass shooting sprees?

Huh.

Weird how this consistently happens here in Murcia, huh?

I will say something needs to change,  but the current tactics of the anti gun crowd will only get the legal gun owners to dig in more.  I am not a member of the NRA,  and won't ever likely join as I think the go to far to defend interpretations of the 2md,  but I certainly am not going to bash their premise because the anti gun lobby has shown little willingness to have honest discussion on the matter and continue to try and push BS narratives.

I've said forever,  I think this all needs to start with enforcing the laws already in existence and doing more to make sure those that shouldn't have guns don't get them,  instead of targeting legal gun owners with more hurdles.  I can even go along with sensible restrictions like special licensing for fully autos for collectors, no devices or alterations to make semi autos cycle like a full auto,  and even mag limitations on higher caliber rounds. (  stupid to restrict 22 mag capacities  like previous bills did ).

Something needs to be done,  but it's not the sane and legal gun owners doing these things.  Hell this shooters family had turned him in saying he was a threat and  yet here we are.

I heard one report from the fedex shooting of a guy that got a gun from his truck and returned fire on the shooter.  Perhaps he is the reason that more innocent people didn't die?  Or maybe he was killed?  They just said that he happened but I haven't heard any more explanation of his involvement.

So one, out of the last 1500 or so in the last few years. Good deal.

Aren't most of these folk "legal " gun owners, until the bullet makes hole in someone.  There just may be an issue on who is considered "legal" or why are you "legal".  More guns in folks hands just ain't working to well.

I just went through 4 accounts of the incident and don't see any mention of anyone returning fire.  Can any of the reports you allude to be cited in order support your position?
