You mean like the rest of society? Its a very hard stance by the NFL. But I don't see it taking care of the problem. Some players will double down. The media is going to RUN with this, stirring up the shit. There will never be an end to this virus and its variants. Ever. There is no way we'll ever reach herd immunity. If California and New York try and shut down again, more people will move to Texas, Florida and Tennessee.
People will continue to die, some people will continue to believe that COVID is a hoax and at some point you'll have to decide if you want to go out and live your life and take a chance if you're compromised. Even people that understand COVID are fatigued by it and will not wear masks again. A Pandora's box was opened with Trump and it will never be shut again (Fake news). I firmly believe in today's society if the government decided to give every citizen a million dollars, there'd be 30 percent that wouldn't take it for whatever conspiracy theory is on Facebook.
I see this rule targeted more toward teams than unvaccinated players. The new forfeit rule specifically states that games could be canceled if there's an outbreak among unvaccinated players. I think the primary purpose of this rule is to incentivize teams to follow the protocols put in place for the unvaccinated players & not look the other way if unvaccinated players aren't following the protocols.
So honestly: to those that I agree with, don't agree with, argue with......its all good. I view this forum as the commonality we have is we are Viking's fans. You have a right to your opinion and vice versa. I don't take things personally and I hope the posters in this forum I don't agree with don't take it personal as well. I know I can be direct at times, but that's me I suppose.
Anyway, we're all Americans and all Viking's fans. I wish the best for everyone regardless. Crazy times we are living in for sure. But although I don't want to keep my viewpoints silent and I won't compromise, I don't want to harbor anger for those that I vehemently disagree with on certain things. That's not the person I want to be in this forum.

It's not about that. It's about him saying that even if he could've prevented his hospitalization by getting the shot, would he? His answer was no.
So here's a man, through nothing more than stupidity, ignorance and belligerence, refuses the vaccine, gets sick, and then puts at risk family members and hospital staff obligated to care for him. He doesn't seem to care about any of that, or how much it cost whoever is paying for it.
Makes me wonder how far away are we from this affecting insurance rates. Will there come a time when insurance companies require proof of vaccination for certain rates? Rates are higher for smokers, and those in high risk jobs. What about deniers? Or will it impact ALL of our rates the way obligated healthcare for the poor and the uninsured currently do?

So is there a definition of what an
"outbreak among the unvaccinated" is according to the NFL rule, or is
the NFL going to play it by ear? Are we going to have one
week where the media darling team have an outbreak which is “not an outbreak”
and they get to keep playing, but then the Browns have an outbreak which “is an
outbreak” and they forfeit the game to the some other favored team? Is there a specific number of people that
constitute an “outbreak”? What if one
team has an outbreak of 5 people and the other team has an outbreak of 15
people. Do they both forfeit the game?
What happens if there’s an outbreak but it
includes vaccinated people, similar to what happened with the Texas Democrats
in Washington or if there’s a new variant the vaccine is ineffective against? Does that game get forfeited or does it get
postponed?
Furthermore, what prevents vaccinated players with low
symptom, breakthrough covid-19 from playing in games? Is it just the honor system? We already know that the pressure is so great
that they’ll play through sickness, injuries, concussions, family deaths, etc. and
that we need external systems to keep them off the field like the concussion
protocol.
To me this just seems like a recipe for ignoring all the Covid
cases for vaccinated people and counting all the Covid cases for unvaccinated
people. These players aren’t likely to
have devastating symptoms and could probably work through things with whatever
drugs they give them for normal stuff.

I think that could very well be an outcome...And I will post this again (and I'd wager $$ on it) that once the FDA formally approves these vaccines (vs emergency use today) there will be a big old wave of employers and Fed agencies that will require it to remain employed.
