Sewell is not sliding to 14. Slater might but even that is doubtful. The real question is how the Vikings view AVT if they don't trade down. If they value him higher than the DE's on the board, you take him and figure out where to play everybody during camp. I'm not opposed to the OT's like Darrisaw, Jenkins, Cosmi, etc. if we get a good trade down offer but you better be sure they can start from day 1 vs. taking a pass on AVT just because Spielman has some sort of strange phobia of taking a highly rated Olineman who is projected at Guard in Round 1 who also has proven experience as a LT in College. Those 3 are widely considered can't miss Olineman in the 1st Round and are great scheme fits. I don't think we can afford to not draft a day 1 starter at Guard or Tackle so if you pass on an Olineman in Round 1, you better figure out a way to trade pretty high up in Round 2 to fill that hole.
All correct, but the draft isnt the only way to Nirvana.
They can get Zeus Jr or make a move in FA post draft too.
We'll see how "all in" they are this year or not soon enough.
Most NFL personnel execs really like this OL class but the rankings are all over the map. The 3rd OT for one team might be the 6th or 7th for another. I'm a Slater over Sewell guy. A bunch of teams are in the same boat. Everyone seems to agree it's them and everyone else.
That's part of it. Leatherwood is a great example though...some see as top 40 pick, others view him as 4th round type player.
Honestly, took a couple iso looks at Leatherwood. I saw too much standing around.
Christian Darrisaw vs...
-Gregory Rousseau (2019): 0 pressures, 0 sacks
-Jaelan Phillips (2020): 1 pressure, 0 sacks
-Boogie Basham (2 gms): 0 pressures, 0 sacks
Darrisaw shows why he's a 1st rounder and what some people don't like about him. See the 3rd clip. Does a great job of reach blocking the inside zone run, but then just stands there.
He's a near perfect fit for us. Big, strong, quick, long arms, comes from an inside/outside zone offense, run blocks well, pass blocks well, reach blocks well. If you can get him to play to the whistle, you'd really have something.

Next to Sewell, he's the best fit for what we do. Time to start banging the table for Darrisaw and Robinson draft combo.
Of course, Cosmi is the type of athlete we like at OT.
Interesting cha with DL coach today. We were discussing building an OL. This was our big takeaway- More important how good your worst guy is than how great your best guy is. Defenses attack your worst guy every week. You can improve your worst starters with 2nd & 3rd rd picks.

Been saying this for years, you are only as strong as your weakest link. With horrific inside play for the last 3 years, it's no wonder why this OL, which has talent performs poorly overall.
WE DO NOT NEED 5 ALL PROs, we need our worst lineman to be NFL average. So our LG, who is projected to be our worst performer this year, if he is NFL average this is a super bowl team.
Two NFL average G's (which Cleveland is already at, with nothing but upside to be very good), will make Bradberry much better. A strong wall up front will allow tackles to focus on their man and trust on stunts, which will make our OL much better. A quality 5 up front from NFL average to maybe an elite RT, would do wonders on a team with all of these weapons.
Get a OT in either 14# or Zeus, draft a G in the 3rd to compete with Cole. Hope that LG/RG, etc which will be our weakest link can be NFL average
Average? Hell, I'd settle for a mediocre LG.
