Sloter saves the day again LOL

No other team thought enough of Sloter to even give a 7th round draft pick for in a trade. Some on this board thought they'd potentially get a 4th for him, lol.

Well thought out thoughts Purplewhizz. I still think he makes it to our PS. What wil really be telling is if he makes it through waivers, and they put #4 string id on PS and don't sign Sloter.

He won’t sign with Vikings if he gets any other kind of offer from anyone else

It would probably depend if it's to another practice squad or an active roster...

This is hilarious honestly. Sloter is way overrated on this board. If you think he's going to light it up with another team, don't hold your breath.
It's not even Sloter so much as it is the coaching staff not showing due diligence in evaluating certain players.  How would Sloter have played if he was given #2 reps for a week and better talent to work with....we will never know.  How many other players are given half assed opportunities and are buried or cut without a true chance?  I think given some of the failures or this staff that it's fair to question their approach when it doesnt jive with the eye test.
Will you at least admit that there are more data points that go into a decision like this than preseason performance, which is literally the only data point we have?

I bet if Harrison Smith was quoted saying Kyle was entitled and lazy in the film room a bunch of you would pull a 180.

Then again, there would still be vitriol from some as I feel like it's become sort of an addiction. I swear some of you will complain about the How when the Vikings win it all one day.

I know there are other measurements the notion of any of then being bigger than on field in game action is silly.  And the real absurdity is that a back up QBs coaching ability weighs more than their actual ability to play the position is asinine considering the value of a roster spot.

It's not nor ever been that I think Sloter should be starting or even the #2,  (as some other like to try and make as strawman arguements agaisnt)  it's that mannion didnt show better ability with the better talent and Sloter wasn't given the practice reps or the surrounding talent to show the same or better.  All most of us wanted was to see more and see how he performed.  Nothing more.

If he faltered then that would have been the end of it.  But as anybody that's been to camp or practice will testify,   the 3rd and 4th stringer dont get the same number of reps in full practice (not even close)  and as a PS squad QB he doesnt even work with our offense as he is tasked with running the scout team offenses to give our D looks at what the opposition likes to do.

I'm not one to fall in love with unproven players,  but when I see one that I think deserves a better opportunity I say something.  I bitched 10 years ago when I saw BRob getting screwed over in favor of Ray Edward's,  and while I cant say that Sloter will ever amount to anything I can say I see a guy that has shown me enough to know I want to see more.

Honestly if Mannion had looked even decent in his appearance it wouldn't be much of an issue,  but in all 3 games Sloter showed better than Mannion in the opportunities they were given.  Its great that mannion makes the right decisions in film room or in practice,   but if that doesnt transition to the field then what's the gain?

If he's as good as many here seem to think, don't rule out the XFL. I heard Andrew Luck's dad (the commissioner, forgot his first name) give an interview a few weeks ago and he made it sound as if they would be VERY aggressive in signing NFL cuts this weekend, especially QB's. If there is no interest from them, and the Vikings being unable to trade him, the list of unimpressed football execs gets longer regarding the legend that is Mr August Sloter.

If Sloter was not showing he couldn't handle the duties in practice, why would a coach put him in a game situation. There is so much more on game day than Sloter showed in preseason....the games he was in, was like play ground football. The coaches see his inability in practice, tough to justify a spot in a real game with real NFL players. I can't see how that is so hard to understand.

Lot's of unproven guys have came through here and succeeded, but they had to prove it in practice first.....no different here.

have you played the game?  this isnt a nintendo glitch,  he played against some of the best that college had to offer and kicked their ass.  you talk about play ground football... that is complete bull shit,  play ground guys dont get shots at the pros.  we are talking about the best that college has to offer getting their shots at the pro level and he dominated those he was given a chance to compete against...
once again, what the fuck would it have hurt to have given him a week with the 2s in practice and an opportunity to show what he could do with quality reps, quality supporting cast, against a better class of opponents?  No I dont think that our best players make the team and get their chances... you want proof,  go look at last offseason when BRob was asked to take a pay cut,  which he did,  when the games were played he was given very limited reps and told he was secure,  but once the cuts came...     and then our D looked like a disorganized shit bomb for over half the season... tell me again about our coaches and front office making moves that are in the teams success best interest.
as far as those unproven guys...  they were given a chance.
