Heinicke's lack of arm strength is alarming and it limits him big time. I don't see the love for the guy. All this gushing over a guy that was playing against absolute scrubs on that last drive.
And playing WITH absolute scrubs as well. Everyone always forgets that part. It all evens out.

But the praise for Heinicke is not as much about what he's done this year, it's more about how he looked two years ago. Most impressed I've been with a rookie QB since Brad Johnson. Some don't see it I guess, but he's got something. And clearly I'm not alone in thinking that. Vikings gave a valuable roster spot to him rather than put him on the practice squad, exposing him to the wire. That says a lot about an undrafted kid from OD.
Preseason games make for QB 'stars', happens every season. 'Stars' that get cut or win #3 jobs. I'd MUCH rather have Keenum backing up Bradford. Its not even close, IMO. And if Heinicke can't win the backup job, why keep him? Find another project because his time will have passed with Minnesota if he isn't the #2 to start the season. Maybe he will be?

Minnesota is going to have to give serious consideration to keeping just 2 QBs (Bridgewater on PUP) to keep another guy on that super deep D-line talent.

whats easier to find on the street,  a QB that knows your system or a LB that can play special teams?  I dont see needing to keep 6 LBs unless they really thing they have something special to work with because outside of Barr, Kendricks, and Gedeon I havent really seen much to jump up and down about,  why not keep the third QB and go with 5 LBs? ( that 3rd QB is more likely to see the field considering our offensive line woes and our LBs((outside of Kendricks)) inability to make contact with anybody.)

Give up on Heinicke?  Seems a bit early in his career to say his time has passed.  But I won't likely lose any sleep over our 3rd string QB.  Not at this part of the season anyway.

Maybe my memory is fading, has anyone ever seen Heinicke play against a starting defense?  I really am surprised by some of the hype surrounding this guy.

I agree with that Jimmy; but i think Webb had the "it factor" as well. Very much so; there was a lot of nuances to his passing game that made us do a double take.

He had wheels, but a lot of us liked his arm and his makeup as a passer.

... the point I was aiming for was just that the wheels can fall off the developmental wagon fast. Not steering this to a Webb conversation, just pointing out that we kind of played out the "developmental to starter" situation and it potentially bit us in the ass. We have 2 starting calibur QB already and a playoff calibur squad. And its not like Keenum has a bad track record - hes an overacheiver. He never was supposed to start in this league, he got out there and "proved it" I guess...

... lol Im not trying to make a scene; i like Heineke and would love to see him succeed - he has a lot of folks rooting for him. I just dont think its that big of a deal at the end of the day; I like Keenum's experience if shit goes south. If we keep Heieneke, it'll be exciting if he needs to make a start.

I believe there was a discrepancy and the fine line between being game ready and cleared to practice. If you aren't game ready and can protect yourself.. then you are unable to physically perform.
I feel Teddys camp probably pushed to be taken off PUP because he was going to be cleared to practice. I am going to guess they lost that fight.
Just my opinion that is.

But he hasn't been cleared to practice as far as I know, has he?

Doesn't appear so as he was videod working out with Floyd away from the rest.  However he may be taking part in non contact parts of practice and doing his rehab drills during the more physical parts.

Are people still doubting that Bridgewater and Vikings management are at odds, or going to be, over the PUP/tolling idea, and it will likely get ugly? Good thing people are so pleased with his tweets about his faith..
