1973 NFCC at Dallas, 27-10 awesome road win. 1974 preseason vs. San Diego... ok how could that be a favorite memory? Well we beat them 42-0 but aside from that, I still remember how nice it was just sit in the stands in decent weather and enjoy a relaxed time. No idea why this memory persists but it does 1976 NFCC vs Rams, sitting the stands freezing my butt off but we beat a superior Rams team that day. 1987 playoff at San Fran 1998 Randy Moss coming out party at Lambeau 2004 Randy mooning Lambeau 2017 Diggs catch vs Saints

Happiest moment was when Diggs crossed into the endzone with double zeroes on the clock last season. SFVike said it best. That moment washed away 40 years of choke, and until we get a Super Bowl win it will be my happiest moment.
Rashad's catch.. only had about 10 years of choke to wash away so the swing from despair to elation was a little less. I did love beating the Pack at Lameblow in the playoffs, watching Page and the rest of the PPEs, watching Peterson go for 296, the 4 NFCCG wins, smacking the Cowgirls around in '09... but the shear joy of beating the team that cheated us out of a Super Bowl appearance just out shines them all.

First, thanks to SF for the great description of the Saints game. I traveled from Fort Worth Texas with my three sons to see that game, and not sure I’ve ever been able to come up with a description that gives a fraction of justice to that moment and those feelings. My sons and I stayed up for hours after getting back to the hotel watching every game recap we could find. That’s #1 for me.
#2 was taking my oldest son, when he was 4 years old to his first Viking game. the joy and awe on his face is forever etched in my mind. It was also Randy Moss’s first NFL regular season game (‘98) and we watched him haul in two deep TD passes from Brad Johnson and I explained to my son he was seeing something very special. I still remember him high-fiving everyone at the Minneapolis airport as we were heading home, his Viking flag sticking out of his backpack, really priceless. #3 would be the ‘09 playoff game against the Cowboys. Again I had all three of my boys’ and the game was a party, start to finish. Favre was on OUR team, and I finally got a little revenge for Drew Pearson’s pushoff!

Quote: @Purpleblooded said:I truly love that Cowboys playoff win. I think that was the loudest I ever heard a game. It got loud at Minneapolis Miracle but I think it was louder throughout the Cowboys playoff game. And it was just dominance the whole game. That last TD to Shiancoe was probably my favorite in game decision Childress ever made. Screw the Cowboys that's what you get for going for it twice in your own territory if you are conceding the game punt the damn ball.

The entire 98 season. I managed to make it to 4 or 5 games that year without making it to Minnesota. Dallas was awesome that year

Lots of great choices here...
I'm a younger fan and I'd have to say mine are: #1 - Minneapolis Miracle... Words can't describe it. I don't think I said a coherent word for at least a couple minutes. Just lots of yelling, screaming, and jumping around with my boys while my wife laughed at us. #2 - Taking my oldest to his first Vikings game against Houston in 2016 in the new stadium. Watching him be jacked up after we won and doing the SKOL chant when we left... Nothing better than that. We also had a great time hanging out with fellow Vikings fans at the Vikefans tailgate. Played catch with Maroonbells kids and ate some delicious food that Jimmy and Mike cooked up... And that pie, Albuddah made... Holy shit. Yum. #3a - Favre to Greg Lewis... That was the moment I knew the Vikings were going to be really good that season. #3b - 1998 season... Moss... just a great season that we didn't finish off the way it should have been. It will happen though... I'm confident.

Thanks guys. It was a highly emotional game for me personally.
That old guy who threw his cap off in front of me? We hugged, he started crying. He got embarrassed and sat down, put his hands over his face and he balled like a baby for several minutes. Wife would rub his back but he couldn't stop it. I cried too, it was just spontaneous outburst of emotion . More than half the men in our section had wet eyes. If you are a diehard, you get it. Like stickybun said, we have had that shit pie served up so often, but in more flavors than any pro franchise. 0-4 Super Bowls. 1998 vs Falcons. 2009 Saints. 2016 Seahawks. You all know the story already. And here it comes again, like Groundhog day. What new and interesting way will my beloved Vikings find a way to rip out my heart and soul and leave me at the altar this year? It was like God himself took pity on us. Keenum #7 calls up a play Buffalo Right, 7th Heaven. At exactly 7:14 pm, he threw a miracle to #14 Diggs. And how that safety Williams missed a routine tackle, like God thought well those poor purple souls need a break, I'm going to reach down and booger-flick the Saints safety past Diggs and bowling ball him into his own teammate. I don't know, but for me as a lifelong Vikings faithful that game was soul cleansing. It was like we needed an exorcism to christen US Bank. And yeah next week we got blasted, but for one night, one time, FINALLY it was our turn to completely punk a hated rival, rip their hearts out in front of them, take a bite, and stuff it back in their chests and tell them "Not tonight jack!" and send them packing home. I spent the next 48 hours after the game on YouTube watching Vikings fans reactions across the country. Anytime I'm feeling down, that's what I watch. Anytime I'm feeling feisty, I watch the Saints fans reactions. The curse is dead, have faith, and SKOL!! |
