Florida State S Derwin James ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine.
James measured into the combine at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds and proceeded to crush athletically. That started with the bench press -- where he put up 21 reps -- and continued on Monday. Not only did James excel in the 40-yard dash, he did likewise with the vertical leap, where he notched a 40-inch jump. This was the kind of impressive showing that we expected to see from the safety in this setting. The future Round 1 pick has put in formal interviews with the Seahawks, Raiders, 49ers, Packers, Chargers and Vikings while in Indianapolis.

Probably my favorite players in this draft.  I love watching him play. He is a do-it-all safety. He can cover, stop the run, and rush the QB. He makes plays.

Surprising.   I wonder if it is a clue that they are planning on not renewing some of next year’s FAs contracts. If so then perhaps it could be a salary cap management plan to support a fat qb contract?   :p
