10 names Vikings fans need to know as we enter draft season
#1
Oklahoma, T, Orlando Brown
One-liner:

A projected first-round pick, Brown is massive and mean, but his technique and footwork still need help.

Texas, T, Connor Williams
Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 320-pounds
One-liner: Williams is said to be a highly technical player who works hard and has good footwork. There is some concern that his 2017 wasn’t as good as previous years and he doesn’t have typical tackle length.
“Williams is a plus run blocker with plug-and-play technique across the board. If he regains his 2016 form, he will be a good NFL starter. If not, he’ll be an average NFL starter.”

UCLA, T, Kolton Miller
Height/Weight: 6-foot-8, 310-pounds
One-liner: Miller’s size and competitiveness make him an intriguing prospect – maybe for the second round. There are some concerns about how he would adapt to NFL edge rushers.

Georgia, G, Isaiah Wynn
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 300-pounds
One-liner: A second-team All-American who helped the Georgia offense flourish, Wynn is technically strong. He may lack ideal power for a guard.
NFL.com wrote:
“Wynn is a talented, technically sound block-winner with a demeanor that offensive line coaches will love. His athleticism allows for quick advantages as a run blocker while his hand strength and footwork helps him sustain those advantages into open running lanes.”

UTEP, G, Will Hernandez
One-liner: A mammoth man who is aggressive and agile enough to pull.
NFL.com wrote:
“Though he lacks height and length teams would like, it shouldn’t hurt his stock much. Hernandez should be able to step in as an immediate starter with a high ceiling.”

Iowa, G, James Daniels
Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 295-pounds
One-liner: Mobility is his thing, which makes him intriguing for the Vikings, who built an undersized, quick offensive line last year. Might struggle against powerful NFL interior D-linemen.
NFL.com wrote:
“He needs to get stronger, but he’s a plus run blocker and pass protector with a chance to become a Pro Bowl starter.”

Ohio St., G, Billy Price
Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 312-pounds
One-liner: Another high-IQ O-lineman from Ohio State. Also considered to exceptionally strong and powerful.
NFL.com wrote:
“He should be able to come into the league and deal with NFL power right away. However, his impatience as a blocker and tendency to charge in head-first will be used against him by savvy NFL opponents if he doesn’t get it cleaned up. Price is an early starter with Pro Bowl potential.”

Alabama, DT, Da’Ron Payne
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 308-pounds
One-liner: Freakish run stuffer and leader who didn’t put up huge sack numbers but improved as a pass rusher. Might be gone by the time the Vikings pick at 30
NFL.com wrote:
“Payne possesses one of the most impressive combinations of strength and athleticism that we’ve seen from an interior lineman.”

Michigan, DT, Maurice Hurst
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 282-pounds
One-liner: Has the type of build the Vikings like from a three-technique DT. Pass rusher who picked up 5.5 sacks this year.
NFL.com wrote:
“His ability to come out fast and low should create opportunities to become a disruptive penetrator, but he has to prove that he has the strength to play through redirect blocks and hold up against NFL interior linemen.”

Florida St., S, Derwin James
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 215-pounds
One-liner: A versatile, intelligent leader who has great size for his position.
NFL.com wrote:“Possesses the desired physical traits and mental makeup of an All-Pro safety who has the ability to not only set a tone but change the course of games.”

South Dakota St., TE, Dallas Goedert
Height/Weight: 6-foot-5, 255-pounds
One-liner: Tremendous receiving tight end who caught 92 receptions for 1,293 yards and 11 touchdowns.
NFL.com wrote:
“Goedert is a very talented pass catching tight end with the ability to work all three levels of the field. His ball focus and ability to make the spectacular catch will make him the darling of fans and media throughout the draft process, but, he still has work to do.”

Weird they didn't put McGlinchey on the list. Guessing because he's projected to go early in the 1st, but I'm not so sure that's true.

I'm far from talent expert, but the kid from Iowa is intriguing ball player.

The notion that James would be at the end of the first round is surprising. He may not be quite Jalen Ramsey, but he and Smith would make a tremendous safety combo. He looks like a game changer on the defensive side.

I dont think anybody knows where to put McGlinchey, Ive seen him as high as 10th IIRC and as low as early 2nd round.  Its odd that there is that much of a swing on a guy that early in the draft.

I really want to like him, but he seems to be nicked up a lot...
