Anthony Harris’ play the stuff of champions

Sendejo is stiff in coverage and not always where he's supposed to be in run coverage. Period.

But if a League Average or maybe slightly above that Player is the weakest link on your Defense you're freaking stacked.

But let's not ignore how many times Rick & Mike have tried to replace him in the Draft or FA.

Harris won't ever be as physical but if he becomes a polished Center Fielder and a guy who can single cover TEs that frees up Smith to be even more dynamic in the Box.
I think he will get there,  but he has to be able to bring the lumber.  I dont think Zimmer is going to have a S back there that isnt known for jarring a ball loose on bigger guys across the middle.  I have like Harris to replace Sendejo eventually,   but I also think Dejo is improving quite a bit as he becomes more comfortable in this defense so it will be harder for him to be displaced.

tried to replace him is a bit of an overstatement IMO.  How many draft picks have they used back there?  Harris?  Wasn't he a UDFA?  Kearse was a 7th?  Exum was a 5th(?).  Not exactly tons of attention to that spot.

That said, would love it if Harris or Kearse turn out to be that guy.  In this passing league with all the protections on the WRs, coverage is more important than the big stick.
Geoff linked the Team to a Safety they wanted to Draft but saw Cook still there early in the 2nd. Team went after Iloka. I'm sure there have been others.
Meh.  Speculation on draft is so iffy.  Could have been smoke.  And yes, we were rumored to be interested, but we never actually had him come in for a visit did we?

I get that an upgrade would be good, but seeing who is backing him up, we haven't tried very hard.

Geoff said the Vikings were looking at spending their highest pick in this year's Draft on replacing Sendejo. And just because Iloka didn't actually visit doesn't mean Zimmer wasn't interested. It just means Rick got the price tag from the Agent and said "pass".

Again, Geoff has some good insight, but count me as a skeptic that the Vikings would actually feed him inside information on their high draft plans.

Some may be correct just to keep it useful, but teams control just about everything leaked in order to control the conversation.

I agree it was a key play, but (not to rain on a parade), it should be noted that he had to make that play, as he had been beaten on the pass.   Nice recovery, but had it not been for the strip, most would have said he had a bad play.

No matter, glad for the result.

kinda harsh IMO.  Playing zone, just trying to keep him out of the endzone.  He did that as well.

I'll let Zimmer decide who should play next to Harry.

Sandejo is under contract for 2 more years at about 3.5 per.  He can be cut with no Cap hit, so there is that.  Harris is a RFA after this year.

IMO - Sandejo has improved every year he has started and beat out every comer.  He is also having a very good year so far this year and probably played one of his best games vs the Redskins with 2 pass defensed that would have been TD's.

But again, I lean towards letting Zim decide Smile
