Hey, we've all been there man. Sometimes we hit it and other times not so much.
Regardless, what is great from a fan perspective is we probably won't have to wait more than a month or so before we know on some of these QB rumors for Minnesota. Is KOC bringing in a true contender to battle for the starter position with JJ or more of a much improved QB2 that gives the ol' wink wink on it?

Darnold and Jones bet on themselves, and the history is what it is: one has a ring by going to a perfect situation, the other looked impressive before injury.
The observation that I have to make is that our o-line, in its 26 varieties, likely contributed to Wentz' shoulder and any number of JJM's injuries...
...so, all of the "if only" QB musings miss the very real possibility that Darnold, Jones, A-a-ron, and any other possibilities would have faced the same injury possibilities...maybe, "likelihood" is the word, here.
If KOC is a "QB Whisperer", he needs to prove that he can develop a young signal-caller. He's proven that he can use veteran QBs in a plug-and-play manner, but he hasn't proven that he can coach a winner that doesn't have 6+ seasons under their belt.
Yes, we still need that veteran to push JJM and to play if needed...but, it's time for KOC to really show what he's got...or lacks.
KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

Yeah, Darnold got paid the big money, but it was the offensive plan and the stellar D.
I thought Jones had cooled a bit even before the injury. Their offense was largely dependent on the running game, teams had started to figure them out a bit.

Vikings were a half game from the playoffs and likely would've won the division if it weren't for that last second, 56-yard return in the Bears game. This despite what was probably the worst season of QB play in our history. I would offer the 1970-71 triumvirate of Cuozzo / Lee / Snead. Wasted opportunities....

WOW! Look at the big word from Rigby!
Nice pull, I am not a highly educated man, but do read a lot and that one had me scrambling for the dictionary.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

There was a reason he was signed before the end of the year to the practice squad. I'm sure that JJM NOT being able to practice for so long rehabbing the knee injury and getting up to playing weight there were question marks. He's very young. I think if he could have run the PS team and get QB2 reps behind Uncle Sammy all year they wouldn't have felt that way. All the mental work in the world won't cut it against actual reps. He had none of those. Then they gave serious thought to Aaron Rodgers as the offseason/training camp went on but JJM started to get in a positive groove, showed he knew the offense and commanded it and that practice against New England I think put the nail in the coffin of bringing Rodgers aboard. Impartial observers thought he seriously outplayed Drake Maye during those.
So it really was a confluence of things that worked to undermine the season, but even with those things having Daniel Jones as QB2 or he wins that job outright would have changed the Viking's season last year and they would have made the playoffs. Hell, they almost made them without him and all the turmoil. All the fans screaming over KOC's playcalling, the Wilfs, JJ's bad plays, not running enough, etc. and really by far the lynchpin for a subpar season were injuries and no Daniel Jones. Simple as that. The NFCN is oh so winnable. Hey, let the sunshine in....
You're not thinking fifth dimensionally.
It's funny because I became a fan of this group just before I became a Vikings fan.

That is hard to believe but just goes to show what a crap shoot the draft is. Every year quarterbacks are over drafted by teams desperate to find that franchise guy on a rookie contract. Give them maybe 2 years and if they can't win try again to find one.
