Time, patience, maturity is what is needed.
Thats a familiar ring...

We've seen many teams have GREAT draft picks for year after year...the Browns, the Jets, the Bungles, recent Miami, most of Detroit's history...and it was high picks that went to s**t teams.
As has been VERY discussed on this matter, it's wrong and utterly unfair to expect some rookie to reset his team's culture, expectations, and future. It takes the whole thing, and the truth is:
Bad teams getting great picks are often still bad teams...just with potential for the NEXT coach, GM, etc.
See the above-mentioned teams for proof...hell, see any teams with lasting success. KC was a playoff regular even before Mahomes landed. SF was the powerhouse of 80s into the 90s because they knew how to close games/seasons. New England only got good draft picks by trading their blue-chip players...because their slew of Superbowl wins had them picking about 30th or worse with regularity.
A team has to know how to win before any new, shiny college boi can be much help...and history bears that out. Hell, it took a coaching and system change to get Caleb from worst to first in our division, because he was a dumpster fire under the previous regime.
Stafford's the most recent #1 draft pick to win the big game, and he went through a decade of s**t in Detroit first...but, the Rams had a...wait for it...winning culture (including KOC!).
It's always far bigger than draft position, just ask the GOAT, Mahomes, and many others.
Wrong. Every year is brand new with new players, coaches, front office people, scouts, etc. The proof is despite ALL of the regular season success and "winning culture" the Vikings have built up over the years, we haven't been to the playoffs in back to back seasons in almost 20 years! Things change every year. How about the winning culture of some of the teams you mentioned? Lions, Chiefs, etc. How did that winning culture faire for them this year? So winning meaningless games after we've been eliminated (for a month), serves us no benefit as it relates to the 2026 team. The only thing this winning of meaningless games has done is ensure another year of Kwesi and a front office that whiffs on draft picks like J-Lo whiffs on husband's. With that said, any help he can get in the form of higher draft picks and a last place schedule for next season...I'll take.

Sidebar if McCarthy can't go this week it'd be fun if the team gave Favre a call. If Indy can do it why can't we! Someone get the old gunslinger a helmet!

HAR!!
So, you talk about us not getting to playoffs in consecutive years, then name teams that typically have (KC, Detroit)...so, that point is rounded off enough to bowl with.
In the meantime, I'm hoping a trainable center falls to us early, because we've proven that no veteran, rookie, etc QB does well when the interior o-line has issues.
What gives me joy and warms my heart forever is that no amount of hissing and spitting to "tank" ever seems to sink in, so the people who fap endlessly over each batch of shiny college bois are frustrated and miserable over and over again. That's...a beautiful thing!
Anyway, let me know how the Jets are doing with what must be a superbowl-crushing roster. Have a blessed evening!
Let's Be Spoilers from Hell and have a Great Plan for 2026!

Lol the point is winning meaningless games now touting some "winning culture" heading into next season is bullshit and isn't how today's NFL works. This isn't Terry Bradshaw and the Steel Curtain keeping their nucleus together for a decade. Every year is completely new as evidenced by the crashing of teams like the Chiefs and Lions. It's parody, and success in one season has little to no bearing on the next. You just better hope you have a quarterback and a competent front office with a plan.
Jets you say? Those same Jets that have had more postseason success then the Wilf led Vikings? Got it..

This isn't Terry Bradshaw and the Steel Curtain keeping their nucleus together for a decade. Every year is completely new as evidenced by the crashing of teams like the Chiefs after 7 years on top and Lions who could easily be back near the top next year. It's parody, and success in one season has little to no bearing on the next. You just better hope you have a quarterback and a competent front office with a plan. Agreed. I think we have both but I'm not certain. TBD.

Says who? I do...and parody does. Success one season does not equate to success the next season because it's a new team every year. That's why I say, you better have a quarterback and a front office with a plan to have any kind of actual sustained success in today's NFL. That's just fact.
