This coming from a QB who spent 6 years bouncing between the NFL, NFL Europe, the Arena leagues and your local Hy-Vee stock room, before finding success on a team with a great offense, play caller and weapons. Drew Brees spent 3 years struggling in San Diego before finding success. Rich Gannon, Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield. It’s not like there aren’t several examples.
Personally, I think Brock Purdy’s down year is due mostly to missing Aiyuk and McCaffrey, so I don’t think the 49ers will, or should, cast him aside for Sam Darnold. But this side-swipe at Darnold is misplaced.
