Vikings QB Sam Darnold has been named the NFC offensive player of the month for September. First in passing TDs and passer rating. Second in yards per attempt. Played the position at such a high level.

Chants of “M-V-P! M-V-P!” might still be a tad bit premature, but Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold has indeed won the first month of the NFL season.
At least among NFC offensive players.
Leading the Vikings to their first 4-0 start in eight years while pacing the league in touchdown passes (11) and passer rating (118.9), Darnold won NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September.
It’s the first player of the month honor for the longtime embattled third overall pick of the 2018 draft. He’s also the 13th different Viking to win the award and the second under coach Kevin O’Connell, joining Justin Jefferson (November 2022).
The last time NFL MVP honors went to anyone but a quarterback was 2012 when Vikings running back Adrian Peterson won.
Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen won AFC Offensive Player of the Month.
The defensive players of the month were Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson in the NFC and Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy in the AFC. Special teams players of the month were Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey in the NFC and Steelers kicker Chris Boswell in the AFC.
Darnold’s 11 touchdown passes to start the season are three more than any other quarterback in the NFL (Baker Mayfield, eight), and tied Tommy Kramer (1986) and Kirk Cousins (2023) for the second-most touchdown passes through the first four games of a season in team history behind Daunte Culpepper, who had 13 in 2004.

Its very easy to root for Ginger Jesus (luv that), especially given his past 6 years.
I think the dude has shown incredible resiliency and humility. I know what he's saying publicly, but I dont doubt for a moment he really wants to win this Sunday

I dont know how he will be able to, but I am praying he can keep himself humbled and focused.

He's already got as many NFC Offensive Player of the Month awards for Minnesota as Kirko Chainz did as a Viking!

Cousins grew quite a bit as a qb under the current coaching. I hope he sends KOC a nice Xmas card every year. Maybe a birthday card too.

I think 6 years struggling as a QB, getting bludgeoned by fans and media and then traded for peanuts on his way through 4 NFL teams has humbled him quite a bit. He seems pretty grounded.

He worked his whole life, dreaming of this kind of success and fame, now that hes acheiving his dream its hard to say how he will tale it. Hes seen the lows, we know he doesnt quit, but weve never seen how he handles success. Seems good thus far.

I’m happy for him. I’m glad he found the greatest quarterback whisperer in the NFL to resurrect his career. I wish him nothing but the best this season and in the future.
However, I 100% do not want to see him as the quarterback of the Vikings after this season. He can go chase that big contract somewhere else.
We drafted our REAL franchise QB, and it’s his team next year.
