In a rare moment of agreement after yesterday's tragic debacle, both of our codger candidates pushed for unity, both had "UNITE" as central messages, and reportedly their (brief) phone call went as well as could have been hoped for.
"UNITE"...as in, the United States. What a thought, right?
Apparently, it's unthinkable, untenable, and unimaginable:
J. D. Vance, Trump's pick for VP, was already insisting on arresting Biden not long after the shooting took place (ensuring that I see him as a walking turd, hereafter)
Democrat Bennie Thompson fired a staffer for posting "don't miss next time" and/or something about shooting lessons.
When I logged onto my various social media (as a musician, I network through a few), I saw a level of rabid finger-pointing and vitriol I normally only see right after election days.
"Unite" said the old geezers, fighting for the office.
"F*** OFF, WE WANNA CALL NAMES AND ACT LIKE S**THEADS!" responded the parties.
