I think we see this dynamic every year, a great example was the Josh Allen draft, not only did Mayfield and Darnold go ahead of him at 1 and 3, but right below him at 10 was Josh Rosen, someone who before the draft was no where projected to go that high, I was actually surprised both Darnold and Rosen came out that year and thought they both should have gone back for their senior years, so it was shocking to see them both in the top 10. I hope this is true as it could really be beneficial to the Vikes if it potentially pushes down one of the top 3.
The dynamics with Maye actually remind me a lot of when Dan Marino got drafted, Marino had a down senior season and consequently had a lot of guys pass him up. Not saying Maye is in Marino's category, as I think he is the best ever in terms of a pure passer, but think he is also being undervalued based on not having as good of a year.
