The Denver Broncos hired Kelly Kleine as executive director of football operations/special advisor to the general manager on Monday.
She is believed to be the highest-ranking female scouting executive ever with an NFL team.
Kleine, who worked with general manager George Paton with the Minnesota Vikings, will have scouting duties and manage the team's video and equipment departments.
EDITOR'S PICKS "Kelly is a rising star in the NFL, and we're fortunate to add someone of her caliber to the Denver Broncos," Paton said in a statement announcing the news. "Having worked with her for nine years in Minnesota, Kelly has a strong understanding of all aspects of football operations and player evaluation along with outstanding leadership qualities. She will be a tremendous resource with her experience on the pro and college sides as well as her knowledge of our grading scale and football calendar."
The Broncos said Kleine will have involvement with player evaluation, day-to-day football administration duties and preparation for both the NFL draft and free agency.
Kleine worked for the Vikings the past 10 years, including nine in the team's scouting department. She held the title of manager of player personnel/college scout the past two seasons and scouted the Midwest region for the Vikings.
