Fox News Wins Lawsuit
#1
...by arguing that no "reasonable viewer" takes Tucker Carlson seriously. LOL
A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit against Fox News this week after lawyers for the network argued that no "reasonable viewer" takes the primetime host Tucker Carlson seriously, according to a new court filing.
The case was brought by the former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who said Carlson defamed her on his show, "Tucker Carlson Tonight," by saying she extorted President Donald Trump "out of approximately $150,000 in exchange for her silence about an alleged affair" between them.

Its just all 'entertainment'. There is really no such thing as 'The News' as our parents knew it. Anything goes now and lawyers can say, 'Hey, nobody in their right minds takes Fox News seriously'. Well, unfortunately that isn't the case for some viewers. And Fox News knows it and their ratings show it. NBC and CNN are bad also (not nearly as bad as Fox IMO), its just craziness.

The more I read and hear, the more I think Trump has a decent chance of getting re-elected. These protests, which many times include thugs that destroy property, are scaring a lot of voters. And all of these kids that just LOVE to be a part of these demonstrations and talk the talk about voting....WILL NOT vote. Same with Hispanics, they poll well but they don't get out and vote. And defunding the police?? C'mon now, that's dumb and only serves to fuel the fear mongering flames of the Right even if most liberal minded people understand its not feasible. The perception is the Left wants the police de-funded.

The companies I work with do analysis on all the election crap.  Most have it 50/50.  JP Morgan says 60/40 Biden.  First Trust says 75/25 Trump.  Those are the two outliers otherwise its split right down the middle.

I'm envisioning "the purge" style protest on election night if Trump wins.

I can assure all my lefty Viking friends if Trump loses and there isn't a peaceful transfer of power.  I'll be out there protesting with you.

Defund the police is a huge mistake and an example of why people on the streets should not be writing copy for political movements. The right hears "defund the police" and they think it means eliminating the budget for police departments. And Trump encourages that belief. I would bet many on the far left even think that. Yeah! Get rid of the pigs! I guess "re-allocate" doesn't fit as well on a picket sign.

Nuance, or anything you have to explain further, has no place in a political campaign. People are stupid and if you talk to them like they're stupid you can win a lot of elections.

Frank Luntz was brilliant at reshaping political language. He's the guy who changed "estate tax" to "death tax." Simple. Scary. He was also the guy who told Bush to stop using the words "global warming" and instead call it "climate change" so that it wouldn't sound so dire, and then made conservatives think that it was the left who made the change. Man, he was good at what he did. I'm happy he's on our side now.

These kids (and councils) screaming Defund Police are politically stupid. Just stupid. Hold the political gun to your mouth and pull the trigger. STUPID and naive and convicted.

All that said, I am totally prepared for a Trump win or Biden win at this point. Only thing that would surprise me is if one candidate was so far ahead on election night that we can actually declare a winner in that short time-frame.

I didn't pick Hilary to win and I don't trust any polls anymore. I wouldn't bet on this election.

Sit back and watch the debates in the meantime. They wont sway anybody who's already made up their minds, but its the un-decided in the swing states that matter most now.

Profit motive destroyed media.
News used to be just the news, mainly objective and fair.

Now it's about clicks, views, eyeballs, MONEY

Comes with the deregulation of media markets, newspapers, radio and tv broadcasting used to have regs on what could be owned by whom.  Net neutrality is or was part of that, joy's of unabated capitalism and unlimited bandwidth.

If I were a betting man, I would bet on Biden winning fairly easily. The numbers just aren't adding up for Trump. Of course the obvious warning is that Clinton appeared poised to win a month out as well. I'd say Biden's chances of winning are a little better than Clinton's were, but that really doesn't mean anything with so many moving parts in this election...and the fact that it's somewhat likely that we don't know the winner in several states the night of the 3rd.

Among undecideds (who the hell are these people?), the first debate will have the biggest impact. If Biden loses the debate big through some sort of gaffe or appearing old and doddering, everything could change.
