It's very important for leaders to communicate calmly and clearly in times of crisis. Trump can say that the media is compounding fear by its saturation coverage of this, but to call it a democratic "hoax" is absurd. And dangerous. It feeds into the conspiratorial mindset that so many of his supporters already possess. He knows that. It's why he does it. And so the only person politicizing this is Trump himself.
