Groundhog Day for Josh Gordon
#11
So if I am not mistaken, the first few suspensions were for pot smoking.  That was an injustice.  That was the NFL simply not giving a damn about a young man with a problem.

I do not know JG's life story - and this is not unique to him.  We all know that some of these guys come from backgrounds you would not wish on anyone.  They have some unique talents, toughness, and perseverance, and use that to give themselves a chance to make it in our society. But they have damage; they have problems; and are they trying to cope the best they can.  But the NFL has an image.  It's OK to advertise beer and scotch and vodka and every kind of pain medication the pharma industry can devise, but any player testing positive for pot, a non-performance enhancing drug, will be suspended.  But what if the kid has mental health issues and this helps him deal with it without giving him a performance edge? Too bad. Image takes precedence over that.

Isn't Josh the one who got suspended for drinking beer on an off-season plane flight while he was suspended for pot?  The NFL met him when his plane touched down and ordered a urine test. It cam back positive for alcohol. Action: more suspension.  It's almost as if the NFL is asking, what does it take to break this guy.  They may have their answer soon.
