Hey all,
It's been a long time since I've come around and posted. I still bop in and read on a weekly basis, to keep up with current events and send silent prayers to Sassy.
Just a little anecdote from last week I thought I'd share...
The wife and I took our two boys on a quick Bahamas cruise last Fri-Mon for spring break. The first day we're lined up outside for the muster drill (required safety drill for those who haven't cruised before.) I'm six people deep, pressed back against the wall when I see a muscular guy in dreads and black cap ask a ship worker something. As he walks away, I glance over at my 15-yr old and say: "I think that was Dalvin Cook." His eyes widen, "Really?"
Sure enough, later that night, I come around the corner and there he is. Walking and munching on Doritos, with a male friend. (Didn't recognize the other guy, not a football build.) I said his name, gave him a fist bump and told him I really appreciated watching him run. Because I'd had a few martinis, I might have actually shouted his name in surprise. He was cordial but kept moving. It's possible I put him off. The wife says I do that sometimes. Women.
Over the next couple of days we saw him at various spots around the boat and Nassau. I didn't want to be "that" guy who fanboys over someone, mostly because I'm not, so I left him alone. He looked like he was enjoying himself. Never saw him doing anything he'd be ashamed to see on Instagram. My Packer fan wife was the only one who took pics, but they were from a distance. For some reason I find that funny. She couldn't have picked him out of a lineup with his jersey on but now she's going TMZ on him.
Anyway, it's a random story to share in the dull part of the season. But if he goes off this year and is a key reason we hoist the trophy, I claim all credit. I gave him my most magical fist bump.
