Who do you punish?

No, just us. This punishment thing is getting very old, it's like 43 years now, can we get a break please?

I keep hearing people say that people need to be “punished”,
“held responsible”, or “held accountable”
I guess I just don’t understand what this means to people.  To me, you either fire them if they’re not
the right guy or you help them achieve the dream you’re both working
towards.  But what does “punish” even
mean?  Are you going to parade him around
in front of the media and tell everyone how bad of a job they did?  You going to give him a spanking or put him
in timeout?

These are grown ass men.
They know they underachieved.  How
does “punishing” people help them do better next time?  It’s not like you can bench the GM/HC and put
in a backup for 2 series.
We could have a real Viking mascot "take care" of these things live during games. Mistake. Sword. Crowd makes the call. I suppose everyone would play harder and some would be satisfied...

I think this is right.  I think Spielman has done a pretty decent job since the Zimmer hire.  He is good at finding mid round defensive ends and late round WRs.  He is very poor at drafting his own linemen (except for O'Neill and perhaps Elflein once he is healthier) and first round WRs.
But a change at the top is not all that unusual.  Companies do it from time to time to get a fresh perspective.  It might be time for a fresh perspective.
Maybe a new GM will not fare better but Spielman has been here since 2006 as VP of Player Personnel and then GM.  I would think that he had significant input into roster decisions prior to becoming GM.
It seems there is a great hesitancy if not out right disagreement about making a move at the top from a majority of the fan base.
At the end of the day though, where does the buck stop?  Where should it stop?
