I still remember the Vikings trying to lure Michael Johnson as their long term DE, but he left Minnesota without a deal. Griff was then persued and they locked him up with a very nice contract. Griff was somewhat of a gamble and the Vikes really needed him to step up as a full time starter after Jarad Allen left. Man, was that good fortune for the Vikes.
