OK, slightly different perspective here. I've been a Vikings fan since I was small (old man now) and can still remember the little kid disappointment at losing to KC in the SB. Yep. That far back. So I have suffered through the entirety of Vikings' horrors. My brother, on the other hand, was always a Cowboys fan. We almost came to blows when Drew Pearson pushed off on Staubach's Hail Mary. Well, he just dumped the Cowboys due to Jerry Jones' political position and has become a Vikings fan. But he still thinks like a Cowboys fan. And it's starting to rub off.
He cannot seem to find another loss on the schedule and at most 1 loss to allow for the possibility we stumble and lose a game we should win.
Him: Who's next?
Me: The Lions. They've beaten us 3 straight.
Him: Pffft. Not worried about the Kitties. We'll dominate them and it will make for a great Thanksgiving. Who's left?
Me: We still have Atlanta, Carolina, and GB on the road and Cinci, and Chicago at home.
Him: OK, well Atlanta and Carolina are pretty good. But Atlanta is a dome team and we play fast and good in domes. That's a win. Carolina can be good but how are they going to score? Who will Cam throw it to?
Me: They should have Olsen back. Then McCaffrey and the Michigan guy.
Him: That's not enough. We just held the highest scoring team to 7 points. What else?
Me: Cinci at home, GB on the road, and Chicago at home.
Him: All home games are wins. And GB is done. That's it. 14-2 at worst 13-3. Probable first round bye and host a game. But we want Philly at home not in Philly.
Objectively, he's not wrong. He's just never been a Vikings fan. But this is how Cowboys fans have lived for 45 year. It's pretty nice. And it is starting to rub off.

Hey NO team has ever won a Superbowl in their home stadium so it's not going to happen. With that in mind it's easy to not get overly excited. This team can beat anyone anywhere. #5 offense and #5 defense
When this season started I was like in a doldrums almost going through the emotions of being a viking fan of roughly 34 35 years got a viking helment at age 4 first real remembered against the rams in the playoffs in a muddy win . The pearson push off got in a fight with my best friend at school 87 season the strike year I believed then and still do no strike we win Superbike the loss to the Falcons I almost committed a homicide on a store clerk who laughed about the vikings losing the nfl championship game against the cheating giants stunned at the time to know now how they cheated and league did nothing then the loss to the saints I also cried also still posses me off how the vikings were screwed by the league I believe they were ordered to be sure saints won then last year I knew this team had a great defense then Bridgewater goes down I thought if we could trade for a q I wanted bradford of all qbs that could be available .nevery thought it would happen then boom trade with eagles . Off to 5 and 0 start I'm all in I started a free Harry fun for me to get out a jail after I run naked across field after the vikings win the super bowl last year .well I raised 3000 from friends and customers then boom disaster .I was like it's never gonna happen just a feeling of give up hope this year but I believe know I think this team has it the talent the drive and preserver encephalitis 3 examples the Cleveland game in england years past the vikings would lost to a a lesser team all game it was going threw my head that yup typical vikings are gona give the browns there sole win in fucking London but hey they won then the redskins game most years the vikings would blown the lead in the 4th q but guess what not this team I now believe again the vikings will be left to the super bowl by case keenumber and the super bowl map will be Adam theIlan the boy who grew up being the man who will be the vikings super bowl mvp
This year feels different, I agree. Too many times since 1969 it seems we played over our heads and then it came back to bite us, or a fluke (Gary Andersen vs Atlanta) and it came back to crush us. I watched Blair "Boomstick" Walsh not kick a FG far enough on Monday night, and think...phew. That one's gone...not my problem. I think Alex "BigMouth" Boone...gone. I think Matt "Turnstile" Kalil...gone. I think Cordarrelle "One-trick-pony"...gone. I think A "I am the team" D...gone. I think Christian "My Wife Is Awesome" Ponder...gone.
There seems to be a different attitude on this team...more of a team-first, rather than me-first team. Doesn't matter where you were drafted (Kalil, Patterson, Peterson), or what you were paid (Boone).
Sure we've had injuries this year...it happens every year. But I am frankly shocked at how this team has not folded after Bradford went down, Cook went down, Remmers went on concussion protocol (thank you Rashod Hill), Sendejo went down (thank you Harris), and other backups (Bower, Weatherly), that have stepped up, stepped in.
Unlike some I will not mention "the big game that will be played in a stadium in Minneapolis in February"...I will only watch this team one Sunday at a time. It's too early, and while all the remaining teams on the schedule do look beatable, they are all either capable of beating the Vikings, just as we are capable of beating ourselves (3 turnovers vs. Detroit on Oct 1).
I think they continue to surprisingly play better each week. They are fun to watch. And I for one, am just going to enjoy the ride and politely tell my Packer fan friends and Cowboy fan friends, that this is not their year.
