Just wasn't popular enough and she has one of the highest salaries at The Athletic. So not fired as much as she was on the way out anyway before this. JMO and I'll say this after having a little fun with the whole thing: I don't think anything happened between them, but its a bad look all around for her AND Vrabel. She's going to be radioactive for awhile....probably might never get past this professionally as social media will never let her forget it. I've not seen one woman journalist/reporter defend her other than to say what you've said: blame should go equally to both parties....I think that silence says a lot about what most women in the industry think about this. It doesn't help them, for sure.
Maybe she should contact Brett Favre, he's into that kind of thing too... lol
Dianna Russini's public comment on her husband has surfaced

Dianna Russini made a ruthless, public comment about her husband during a 2021 appearance on ESPN.
The longtime NFL insider, who covers the league for The Athletic, is trending this week. She was "caught" at an Arizona resort with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Both Russini and Vrabel, who were caught lounging at the pool in swimsuits, maintain that they were there as a friend group. The photos published by Page Six are misleading, they claim.
"These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable," Vrabel told the New York Post. "This doesn’t deserve any further response."
An old comment from Russini regarding her husband has surfaced online. Unsurprisingly, fans are pouring over it in wild fashion.
What Dianna Russini said about her husband in 2021
Russini brought up her husband while appearing on ESPN's "Get Up!" back in 2021.
"I think we all do weird things when we're in love. We overshare and over-post. I'm married to someone average. I don't post a lot about him. If I was married to someone beautiful, I'd over-post too," she said.
Russini did end up making a quip about herself, too.
"We're average together," she responded.
She continued.
"You know what the worst part is?" Dianna continued. "He sent me a text during that segment — he's not watching because he actually works for a living — and he said, ‘Good luck today, be great on Get Up.’ The guy's got a heart of gold and here I am on national TV killing him."
Russini, outside of a brief public statement denying speculation about the Page Six photos, has not said much about the report.
She is expected to continue covering the NFL for The Athletic.
