Strib: JJM needs support more than competition
#11
Souhan's absolutely right, though I want JJM to have that experienced pro to be a daily reminder of what long-practiced prep and professionalism looks like. In that regard, Wentz was pretty inconsistent and maybe lacks the leadership the team would get from Cousins, who was lauded for that exact quality.

I want the kid to know how high the bar is, in all of the rituals and habits, to be "THAT GUY". I want him looking over his shoulder for tips and support, but also with the knowledge that he's only keeping the job as long as he proves he's the best option on the roster.

I was VERY glad when Brez sounded more supportive than KOC did this week, because it seemed like he was in full political-speech mode: giving answers without taking any strong positions. I was pretty disappointed in that, especially with his "...teams fail young QBs..." statement on the record.

The kid shows moxie he haven't seen in...hell, since "Burt", maybe. He's got a lot to fix, but he also shows that he's wanting that next play, that next chance, and only seems to get angry, not defeated.

The terms is "Dawg", and the team just needs to train him right.
KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

But this is how KOC has to be: acting like he's truly all about making QB1 competitive. There'll be less hugs this offseason and more direct professionalism by KOC toward JJM....when he shows the improvement and continued mastery of the position and is undoubtedly QB1, then KOC will ramp it down a bit. The whole organization knows that JJM is by far the best option, mostly because he's shown those qualities. Just needs to stay healthy, contrary to what some of the tripe has been online from the fanboy aggregators, that is really their only and main concern. Not improvement, that is expected.

He's 100% a dawg. Biggest dawg this team has ever had outside of Joe Kapp.

I'm game with running Nein back out there. If he does the floppy crappie again we'll have a great draft pick. I just hope it doesn't cause KOC to get fired because I genuinely believe he is the coach to bring us to the promise land.

Ha!

This all just goes to show how in-experienced us Vikings/fans are with rook QB's...

And the best thing they could do for JJM outside of a healthy Darrisaw??

Get a true #1 tail-back who can keep D's honest!

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
