My favorite false narrative from 2 years ago on JJM
#1
His arm strength. Honest to God, LMFAO. F-ing Greg Cosell, one of the biggest dipshits out there....and Colin Cowherd's buddy. Not sure any analyst could come to this conclusion unless they never watched 10 minutes of video on McCarthy, but that's the snake oil Cosell was selling. Was 1 MPH behind at the Combine of Joe Milton, who's a complete animal. All we hear now in Eagan is how JJM has to pull something off this fastball because the ball won't be catchable.

Anyway, I mention it because its one of those crazy false narratives that get out into the universe and people glom on.

I thought that was strange, too, as it seemed like we got blather about his lack of arm strength and his 2nd to Josh Allen ball velocity at the same time.

Kind of like this year, it seems like some people need to create reasons to dislike the kid. If he can keep up the momentum from the past two weeks through the next 3, those people can spend the offseason shutting the F up...!
OK, KOC, time for that miracle....

I think Cosell took the "truish" fact that McCarthy was a system QB at Michigan and filled out a full narrative based on the characteristics of typical system QBs. So in his eyes, McCarthy was not a downfield passer and didn't have standout tools, like arm strength, plus mobility, etc. But in this case, McCarthy was not a system QB because of his limitations. He was a system QB because that's what Harbaugh wanted him to be.
