Get used to it. He's the antidote for the Viking's curse. Nothing but 219 lbs. of dawg. Don't say I didn't tell y'all.

"It's been a long journey," McCarthy said. "I think it's been 609 days, I think I saw since my last competitive football game, which was the national championship. So, it's been a while of being just in the training room, watching a lot of film, learning the playbook and trying to master that. At the end of the day, it's such a blessing to be an NFL football player and play in this league."

There's plenty of season -- and career -- left for McCarthy, but this was one phenomenal first impression.

"Proud of the group, but J.J. especially," O'Connell said. "Heckuva growth moment for him and one that I had total belief in him that we were gonna figure it out together."   -NFL.com

It's just one start and one win. Lots to clean up with getting the play in (KOC may have been coaching it longer in the headset?) and getting out of the huddle on time... but seemed like JJ got more and more comfortable as the game went on. Love the response after the pick 6. Very much like how he responded in the Raiders preseason game last year. Didn't phase him and led multiple TD drives after it.

Gonna be fun to watch him continue to grow and get Darrisaw and Addison back in the lineup in another week or two.

BOOM

I think this quote says it all -

And running back Aaron Jones Sr., whose 27-yard touchdown reception gave the Vikings their first lead with 9 minutes, 46 seconds left in the fourth quarter, recalled seven words McCarthy used once in the huddle: "Is there any place you'd rather be?"

I have a tough time getting a read on him.  The other players love him so it must be sincere.  In someways it looks like he has been coached up and done leadership training, because a young guy shouldn't be that good at it.

But the team responds, so I won't complain one bit.

The only it works is if he's genuine....and he is. That's why it resonates. Best leader out of the 2024 QB class. 100%.

That is what I am saying.  It must be genuine.  But it is hard to imagine a kid having such leadership.  Maybe it is hard to believe (not for you, you have been all in) that he could be this good.

Thats a very good point...There were too many times last night where they were late and things were just rushed. Getting up to the line with 9 or 10 seconds left.

They'll have to unwrap that and fix it best they can (and b4 we play ATL.)

I have played this video 10x, the look on Jones face says it all and that is coming from a veteran who played with Rodgers.  Can look at a lot of factors that won the game last night, but have to think number one was that kids attitude that kept everyone believing.
