ESPN: Vikings get high grade for Thielen trade

Tom Pelissero@TomPelissero

The #Vikings and WR Adam Thielen have agreed to terms on a revised contract, reducing his salary by $2 million and removing $4M in incentives, per sources. This wasn’t about money — Thielen wanted to come home, and volunteered to help the team’s salary cap to make it happen.

Adam Thielen's career earnings total over $91.9 million, with his most recent figures from sources like Spotrac.com showing him with around $83.6 million earned by the end of 2024, and this total is projected to increase in 2025 following the trade back to the Minnesota Vikings.

He recently signed a contract with the Carolina Panthers for 2025, which was then revised in a trade back to the Vikings, who are now responsible for his salary.

A day after the Vikings completed the trade for Adam Thielen, the player the Panthers were counting on to replace him, Jalen Coker, went down with a quad and was placed on IR.

Pretty safe to say that if trade negotiations had lingered one more day, the deal would've been nixed by the Panthers.

Coker is down for a 4-6 weeks. Panthers had to resign Renfrow. Yes timing worked very favorably for the Vikings in this case.

Not sure if anyone noticed but Amari Cooper quietly retired yesterday. He signed with the Raiders a couple weeks ago and looked terrible in workouts. He's a full 4 years younger than Adam Thielen. So hats off to Thielen for keeping his body in top shape. Because the difference between the 31yo guy I saw in clips at Raiders practices and the 34yo steely-eyed missile man I saw in the Panthers highlights last year are two totally different players.

That was a very quiet retirement. I was never a big Cooper fan...

I'm not Cee Dee Lamb fan either.
