#Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell on Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones:

“We feel like we’ve got one of the best combinations of 1A-1B running backs in the National Football League… I was doing cartwheels (obtaining both).”

True, but I think he does believe this about the RBs. They didn't draft another one in last Spring's Draft which was telling. Mason was obviously a FA target for the team.

I've been thinking for some time now that the Vikings didn't bring Mason in to be their change up. They brought him in to be THE guy. They obviously won't say that publicly due to respect for Aaron Jones. And the workload may not reflect that right away for the same reason. But this is Mason's backfield. He IS the RBOTF.

Oh for sure.  I think the liked his physical running style and think he can be the top dog in the run game.  We needed to get younger at RB and did that with the Jordan Mason trade.

If he can take most of the short yardage and goal line touches, that takes a lot of wear and tear off AJ33 to keep him healthy and popping big plays.  Guessing we'll see Mason mix in on some series where he's the main guy and they'll try to get them both over 150+ touches.
