My analysis of him during his last year at USC is proving to be pretty accurate. He is who he is...a product of too much hype.
I love it. QBs don't bust overnight.
It's a series of things over a couple years, usually. Williams was amazing in 2022 when he won the Heisman. 2023 he wasn't as good. 2024 he didn't play well. And now he's on his 2nd coach and system in 2025. He's getting Joey Harington'd in Chicago and He's right on schedule.

Long way to go, but.....it might be at least a 'yikes' type thing. Its just one throw, but a horrible one. Like stupid bad.
Bear's fans will see the kid that grew up 25 minutes west of their stadium in La Grange Park with a Bear's jersey on in elementary school up close and personal on MNF....better bring your Tums, Bear Nation. ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk · 3m Ben Johnson: Offense on Sunday was sloppier than we hoped it would be at this point. From SI.com: Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams visibly frustrated in practice Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was clearly irritated in training camp practice on Sunday, and you can understand why. Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has certainly had an up and down training camp, and while it's just practice, it does have some people concerned about the former No. 1 overall pick heading into his sophomore NFL campaign. One thing Williams was accused of throughout his rookie season was showing poor body language, getting frustrated far too easily and allowing his mind to take him out of the game. Well, Williams' frustration was once again on full display in training camp on Sunday, but this time, you can actually kind of understand it. The 23-year-old was participating in a practice drill in which his throwing accuracy was tested, and let's just say he failed rather miserably. He then expressed visible — and audible — irritation following the short workout.

Man, I'm telling ya, if Caleb Williams doesn't have his shit together by opening day—and chances are he won't, in a brand new offense he's struggling to learn, against a Brian Flores defense designed to confuse—then things could get real ugly in Chicago. ESPECIALLY if McCarthy looks good. Bear Nation is going to let loose their pent up frustrations at yet ANOTHER highly drafted bust QB, Ben Johnson, management, ownership, et al.

And if Caleb is a mental mess, much of the blame should land at the feet of Johnson. Yes, he was just hired, but he took the job knowing this. If he can't be flexible enough to work with the tools he has, he deserves the mess.

JJM has to prove to us that he is looking good. Sample size is too small right now, and he's been up and down in TC. I don't want to overhype this season opener, I've just seen us lay an egg when we should be laying down the other team. Sorry gang, it's just too many years as a Viking fan...trying to keep myself and my emotions centered and balanced.
